{"id":618466,"date":"2026-06-03T07:15:12","date_gmt":"2026-06-03T07:15:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/618466\/"},"modified":"2026-06-03T07:15:12","modified_gmt":"2026-06-03T07:15:12","slug":"steven-craig-becomes-gills-assistant-manager","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/618466\/","title":{"rendered":"Steven Craig becomes Gills Assistant Manager"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Football Club is delighted to announce Steven Craig as our new Assistant Manager.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Steven, 45, arrives from Gala Fairydean Rovers in Scotland following a four-and-a-half year spell and starts his new role at MEMS Priestfield Stadium with immediate effect.<\/p>\n<p>Craig was a professional in Scotland and played for Falkirk, Motherwell, Aberdeen, Livingston, Dundee, Ross County and Partick Thistle. He operated as a striker and is the son of Joe Craig, a former Scottish international forward who played for Celtic.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Steven also played under Gareth Ainsworth during a playing spell at Wycombe between 2013 and 2015, scoring eight times in 70 appearances.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to the club&#8217;s media team he said: &#8220;I am delighted to get it done. It came out of the blue. I got the call two or three weeks ago asking if I would be interested and it sort of snowballed from there.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I can&#8217;t wait to get started.
