An additional 22 illnesses in four new states were reported to the agencies since the case closed on March 17, prompting a fresh warning. As of May 27, the reopened investigation found<\/a> a total of 119 people had become sick across 36 states, causing 32 hospitalizations.<\/p>\n Recalls began on Jan. 15, when brand Live it Up\u00a0voluntarily recalled<\/a>\u00a0its products “out of an abundance of caution” after investigators traced outbreaks to its supplements. Why Not Natural, another supplement brand, later added one of its products to the list in a\u00a0Jan. 28 recall<\/a>.<\/p>\n In the latest update, brands TNVitamins and Doctor\u2019s Pride, both manufactured by Deer Park, New York-based Total Nutrition Inc., were also added<\/a> to the list of affected products. The supplements have long shelf lives, so federal health authorities\u00a0are encouraging consumers<\/a>\u00a0to check their homes, even if they haven’t purchased the products recently.<\/p>\n Exposure to salmonella can be especially dangerous for vulnerable groups, including children, older adults and those with compromised immune systems.<\/p>\n Here’s what to know about the outbreak.<\/p>\n See the ‘risky foods’ linked to US recalls and illness outbreaks<\/p>\n 1 of 10<\/p>\n Consumer Reports<\/a>, the nonprofit known for testing and monitoring consumer-facing policy and products, released its annual risky food report<\/a> in April, naming the 10 foods of 2024 that were subject to the most recalls and\/or associated with the largest illness outbreaks. All stick pack products, or Live it Up items packaged in tube-like containers, with expiration dates between August 2026 and January 2028, are also recalled.<\/p>\n The supplements were sold nationwide, primarily online, on Live it Up’s website and Amazon. The lot code is printed on the bottom back of the packaging in black and begins with the letter “A” or the number “3” for a stick pack product, the FDA said.<\/p>\n Why Not Natural recalled its Why Not Natural Organic Moringa – Green Superfood\u00a0supplements as part of the outbreak. Clean and sanitize any surfaces that may have come in contact with the product, and contact your healthcare provider if you believe you have symptoms of salmonella poisoning, the agency advised. Those seeking a refund can fill out Live it Up’s\u00a0online form<\/a>\u00a0to request one.<\/p>\n Consumers who have purchased Why Not Natural Moringa Capsules should also stop consuming them and return the products to the company for a refund.
