{"id":618795,"date":"2026-06-03T11:29:09","date_gmt":"2026-06-03T11:29:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/618795\/"},"modified":"2026-06-03T11:29:09","modified_gmt":"2026-06-03T11:29:09","slug":"personal-cancer-vaccines-using-ai-gets-research-funding-in-oxford","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/618795\/","title":{"rendered":"Personal cancer vaccines using AI gets research funding in Oxford"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The programme has grown into a consortium of more than 2,500 scientists, clinicians, technologists, patients and partners.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">At its centre is CIARA, an AI scientist platform designed to analyse tumour biology, coordinate laboratory experiments, and help researchers develop personalised cancer vaccines.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The team has been developing biological AI models using the United Kingdom&#8217;s sovereign AI systems, including the DAWN and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/articles\/c8rpnlrj7ppo\" class=\"ssrcss-1e0jzsh-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ISAMBARD-AI<\/a> supercomputers. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The university said they allowed researchers to analyse &#8220;vast amounts of cancer and immune data at a scale previously impossible within conventional university computing environments&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The MRC funding will help with the next steps, including equipment needed to manufacture experimental mRNA cancer vaccines and test whether the AI&#8217;s predictions work in patient samples. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The aim is to determine whether vaccine targets selected by AI can generate strong anti-cancer immune responses.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The programme has grown into a consortium of more than 2,500 scientists, clinicians, technologists, patients and partners.
