{"id":618879,"date":"2026-06-03T12:38:10","date_gmt":"2026-06-03T12:38:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/618879\/"},"modified":"2026-06-03T12:38:10","modified_gmt":"2026-06-03T12:38:10","slug":"tony-bellew-reflects-on-his-greatest-ever-night-in-boxing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/618879\/","title":{"rendered":"Tony Bellew reflects on his &#8216;greatest ever night in boxing\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Former WBC cruiserweight world champion <a href=\"https:\/\/boxingnewsonline.net\/boxer\/tony-bellew\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tony Bellew<\/a> has pinpointed what he believes to be the \u2018greatest night\u2019 of his impressive 34-fight career; over the course of which he faced the likes of Adonis Stevenson, David Haye and Oleksandr Usyk.<\/p>\n<p>Bellew kickstarted his professional career as a light-heavyweight, capturing the British and Commonwealth titles in the 175lb division but losing out to both Nathan Cleverly and Adonis Stevenson when challenging for world honours.<\/p>\n<p>Defeat to the Canadian prompted a move up to cruiserweight, where the proud Evertonian went on to trump Mateusz Masternak for the EBU European strap, before halting Ilunga Makabu inside three rounds to capture the WBC world title at Goodison Park.<\/p>\n<p>Two victories over the legendary David Haye would soon follow, but a third career defeat, at the hands of Oleksandr Usyk, proved to be \u2018The Bomber\u2019s final outing as professional, as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/sport\/boxing\/46167379\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">the iconic Ukrainian stopped Bellew whilst behind on the cards<\/a> in round eight of their 2018 showdown.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on X, Bellew celebrated the 10-year anniversary of <a href=\"https:\/\/boxingnewsonline.net\/opinion\/live-blog-tony-bellew-vs-ilunga-makabu\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">his world title win over Makabu<\/a>, labelling it as his \u2018greatest ever night\u2019.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">My greatest ever night!!
