<\/p>\nA bang was heard before police descended on the Liverpool area<\/p>\n
Merseyside Police and NWAS on Selbourne Street in Toxteth on June 3<\/p>\n
A teenager was shot in the arm with before collapsing in the street. Merseyside Police officers descended on Toxteth<\/a> tonight, Wednesday June 3, following reports of a shooting on Selbourne Street.<\/p>\n Officers were called to Carlingford Close, off Selbourne Street, shortly after 8.40pm to reports a 19-year-old man had been shot in the arm. It is believed the incident happened in the Upper Parliament Street area, the force said.<\/p>\n The man was taken to hospital where he is being treated for his injury which is not believed to be life-threatening.<\/p>\n People in the area explained how police and paramedics after a man collapsed on the corner of Carlingford Close with a gunshot to his arm.<\/p>\n One neighbour told the ECHO: “I heard a bang, it was like a firework and just one, then the police came racing up and down the street, there was loads of them.<\/p>\n “There was a lad on the door by the lamppost [on the corner of Carlingford Close]. I think his mum arrived and she just broke down.”<\/p>\n Another neighbour said they believe police visited Carlingford Close earlier in the day and the victim has attempted to flee the area where he was shot before collapsing.<\/p>\n A police helicopter is also understood to have circled the area for a period of time as police initially arrived, while two cordons were put in place. The first covered a portion of Selbourne Street around Carlingford Close.<\/p>\n Police on Selbourne Street<\/p>\n The second cordon covered a portion of Upper Parliament Street, the Merseyside Caribbean Centre and a section of Selbourne Street running behind the centre.<\/p>\n Scientific support officers were seen working within the cordon shortly before 11pm.<\/p>\n An investigation is underway and house-to-house and CCTV enquiries are being carried out in the area.<\/p>\n Detective Inspector Jay Boardman said: \u201cWe are in the very early stages of this investigation and we are seeking witnesses and CCTV and Ring doorbell footage to piece together what has happened.<\/p>\n \u201cFirearms and the reckless people who choose to carry and use them have no place on the streets of Merseyside and we would ask for the public\u2019s help to locate who is responsible and bring them to justice.\u201d<\/p>\n A Merseyside Police spokesperson added: “Anyone with information should contact Merseyside Police social media desk via X or Facebook<\/a> @MerPolCC.<\/p>\n “You can also report information via our website: https:\/\/www.merseyside.police.uk\/ro\/report\/ocr\/af\/how-to-report-a-crime\/<\/a> or by calling 101 quoting incident reference 1010 of June 2.<\/p>\n![\"Police](\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/0_WhatsApp-Image-2026-06-03-at-223813jpeg.jpg\")
