James Handy has died at the age of 81<\/p>\n

Actor James Handy, who has appeared in films including ‘Jumanji’ and ‘Top Gun: Maverick,’ has sadly died.<\/p>\n

Mr Handy was brutally stabbed to death outside his home on Wednesday. His girlfriend’s son, 44-year-old Michael Gledhill, later allegedly told officers he was the one they were looking for, and he was arrested for the actor’s murder, the California Post reports.<\/a><\/p>\n

The chilling chain of events began when Los Angeles police said they received a disturbing call at around 9.30am Wednesday from a man saying, “I am the son of man, I just killed the man of sin.”<\/p>\n

Officers then raced to Handy’s home in the 19200 block of Erwin Street in Tarzana, where they found the 81-year-old unconscious in the front garden and suffering from a stab wound to his chest. Handy was then rushed to a local hospital, where he was sadly later pronounced dead.<\/p>\n

The police statement read: \u201cOn Wednesday, June 3, 2026, around 9:30 a.m., West Valley area patrol officers responded to a radio call of unknown trouble in the 19200 block of Erwin Street. The 911 caller stated, \u2018I am the son of man, I just killed the man of sin.\u2019 Upon their arrival, officers discovered 81-year-old James Handy in the front yard of the residence, unconscious and suffering from a stab wound to his chest.<\/p>\n

“The victim was transported to local hospital by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics, where he was pronounced deceased. The suspect flagged down nearby responding officers, telling them he was the one they were looking for. The suspect resides at the location with his mother, who is the victim\u2019s girlfriend.”<\/p>\n

\u201cDetectives believe this is an isolated incident and there appears to be no danger to the public at this time,\u201d the police statement said.<\/p>\n

Handy most recently appeared in Top Gun: Maverick. He also featured on several shows throughout his career which stretches back to the 1970s. These include The West Wing, NYPD Blue, Castle and The X-Files.<\/p>\n

As well as television appearances, Handy featured on many films.<\/p>\n

In 1995\u2019s ‘Jumanji,’ he played the exterminator, while in ‘Arachnophobia,’ he played Milton Briggs. His other film appearances included ‘The Rocketeer,’ ‘Brighton Beach Memoirs,’ ‘The Verdict’ and ‘K-9.’<\/p>\n

A rep for the actor said, \u201cWith great sadness I can confirm that the gentleman who was attacked and killed on Wednesday in Tarzana was the actor James Handy.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a tribute, Pam Ellis-Evenas, from the Ellis Talent Group said: \u201cI could not have asked for a more talented, humble or gracious client and friend than James Handy.”<\/p>\n
