Apple is set to announce iOS 27 and an all-new version of Siri<\/a> at WWDC in just a few days. Ahead of that, Bloomberg<\/a> has published a monster recap of everything to expect at the event. There\u2019s one specifically interesting tidbit: the so-called new Siri might have a waitlist for people who want to try the new features.<\/p>\n

Bloomberg previously reported<\/a> that Apple has labeled the new Siri a \u201cbeta\u201d and a \u201cpreview\u201d within the company. This could extend to the public launch of the features, as well. You also might have to join a waitlist, today\u2019s report says:<\/p>\n

Apple has labeled the new Siri as a \u201cbeta\u201d and \u201cpreview\u201d internally, suggesting that the assistant won\u2019t be marketed as fully finished software when it\u2019s released later this year. The original Siri held the same description for two years. There is also the possibility of a waitlist of some sort for people who want to try new features, an approach used with the initial launch of the Apple Intelligence platform in 2024.<\/p>\n

As the report notes, this is similar to the strategy Apple took in 2024 when it launched the initial Apple Intelligence platform. When the early version of the features debuted with iOS 18.1<\/a>, you couldn\u2019t just jump in and try the features right away. Instead, you had to join the \u201cApple Intelligence Waitlist\u201d in the Settings app on iPhone.<\/p>\n

The strategy especially makes sense for the new Siri coming with iOS 26. It will be an all-new architecture for Apple, using Google\u2019s Gemini models for the first time. It\u2019s reasonable that Apple wants a slow rollout of the features to collect feedback, monitor performance, and fix any glitches.<\/p>\n
