Zoe Ball is reportedly set to join Greatest Hits Radio.<\/p>\n
The 55-year-old star was among the contenders for a presenting role on the new-look Strictly Come Dancing – but after being overlooked for a role on the long-running BBC show, Zoe is now set to join Greatest Hits Radio instead.<\/p>\n
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Greatest Hits have wanted her for a while, and as soon as Zoe found out about the Strictly job, she decided to take it.<\/p>\n
“She absolutely loves being a radio presenter, and after stepping away from her BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show a year ago, she took time to think about what she wanted.<\/p>\n
“She knows so many people at the commercial station and can\u2019t wait to get started. She is due to join the station this autumn.”<\/p>\n
If she makes the switch, Zoe will be following in the footsteps of other former BBC Radio hosts, including Simon Mayo and Ken Bruce.<\/p>\n
The BBC recently announced that the new series of Strictly is set to be hosted by Emma Willis, Josh Widdicombe and Johannes Radebe.<\/p>\n
Zoe auditioned for the presenting role on the show, and despite ultimately being overlooked, she was “chuffed” to be among the contenders.<\/p>\n
She said on Dig It!: “I was so chuffed to even be in the mix. There were some pretty amazing people who didn’t even make it into the mix.<\/p>\n
“So I made it in the mix, and I had a really fun time having one last little play at a show that I love and adore. And I’m so thrilled for the gang that has got it.<\/p>\n
“I think there’s been so many eyes on this whole process \u2013 everyone’s quite relieved now that a decision has been made and the right decision has been made.”<\/p>\n
Zoe also joked about going through a grieving process after missing out on the Strictly role.<\/p>\n
The broadcaster – who was the first female host of the Radio 1 and Radio 2 breakfast shows for the BBC – said: “I didn’t get it, but it’s OK.
