Lewis Hamilton<\/a> has declared his readiness to achieve the “impossible” dream of securing a maiden Ferrari<\/a> victory at Sunday\u2019s prestigious Monaco Grand Prix.<\/a><\/p>\n

On track, Kimi Antonelli<\/a> lit up the principality with a self-proclaimed “magic” lap, securing pole position and aiming for a remarkable fifth consecutive win. <\/p>\n

Max Verstappen starts second, one place ahead of Hamilton, while George Russell<\/a>, 43 points behind Antonelli in the championship, starts sixth, facing further ground loss.<\/p>\n

Away from the track, Kim Kardashian<\/a>\u2019s first appearance as Hamilton\u2019s girlfriend added a sprinkle of stardust to the Formula One paddock.<\/p>\n

Acknowledging that overtaking is largely unfeasible, Hamilton remains hopeful of delivering an upset to secure his 106th career win and break his Ferrari duck.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cYou know how these races go. It\u2019s very, very difficult. I hope we can get a really good start and maybe apply some pressure. I probably need rain. But nothing\u2019s impossible.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is a shame that this race is normally a procession, in the sense of following one another. The car is overheating; the brakes are overheating with the way the track is.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut I\u2019ll try to get in there and hassle these two (Antonelli and Verstappen) as much as I can and force them into not making certain corners.\u201d<\/p>\n

After a sub-standard first year with Ferrari, Hamilton is beginning to rediscover his old form.<\/p>\n

Nico Rosberg said in the build-up to the sixth round that Hamilton was not yet at the level required to win a record eighth world championship.<\/p>\n

And Hamilton continued: \u201cIt is all about confidence. I felt capable. I am in a really good place with the car, and I am in a good place with the team.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was no lacking of pace, and I was really grateful for that. In regards to all of the negative comments that people have made, I keep putting the work in, I keep turning up and I keep delivering.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite Hamilton\u2019s optimism, he would have hoped to have been on pole after lapping faster than anyone else here in practice a day earlier.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe barely changed anything, but the car was drastically different once we got to qualifying,\u201d said Hamilton. \u201cIt was a step back and we have to take a deep dive into that.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut I gave it absolutely everything. I was as close to the barriers as I could be. I thought we almost had it, but Max put in a good time and then Kimi, too.\u201d<\/p>\n

For Antonelli, the 19-year-old is riding the crest of a wave. He could be more than 50 points clear in the title race after Sunday\u2019s 78-lap race \u2013 the equivalent of two wins.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was one of those laps, a magic lap,\u201d said Antonelli. \u201cThis is the most intense qualifying of the year, and it takes a lot of effort to keep trying to get close to the limit.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you are trying to find the last two tenths, it is not easy, because the walls start to come closer.
