{"id":624942,"date":"2026-06-06T20:35:08","date_gmt":"2026-06-06T20:35:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/624942\/"},"modified":"2026-06-06T20:35:08","modified_gmt":"2026-06-06T20:35:08","slug":"critically-endangered-red-ruffed-lemur-quadruplets-born-at-small-conservation-zoo-in-devon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/624942\/","title":{"rendered":"Critically endangered red-ruffed lemur quadruplets born at small conservation zoo in Devon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"cp_picture__img\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/1000077076.jpg\"\/>Play Brightcove video<\/p>\n<p class=\"A8Lwr BVYCX\">Critically endangered red-ruffed lemur quadruplets have been born at a small wildlife charity&#8217;s zoo in Devon. <\/p>\n<p class=\"A8Lwr BVYCX\">Shaldon Wildlife Trust, says while twins are common for the species, quadruplets account for fewer than six per-cent of births worldwide.<\/p>\n<p class=\"A8Lwr BVYCX\">Red-ruffed lemurs are only found in a small area in the Northeast of Madagascar. <\/p>\n<p class=\"A8Lwr BVYCX\">The quadruplets arrived at the zoo in Shaldon, Teignmouth on Monday 4 May to mother Eka and father Nero. Shaldon Wildlife Trust says the birth of four healthy infants at once is testament to the care its team provides. <\/p>\n<p> Credit: Shaldon Wildlife Trust<\/p>\n<p class=\"A8Lwr BVYCX\">Director Zak Showell said: &#8220;The four youngsters are already keeping mom, Eka, very busy.
