Duffy<\/a>\u00a0has announced her first live show in 15 years, marking her return after her harrowing kidnapping ordeal.<\/p>\n

The Welsh singer has not played a full gig since 2011, the year in which she withdrew from public life for\u00a0reasons she went on to share in 2020<\/a>.<\/p>\n

On Friday, however, she told fans on her Instagram Stories that she would be playing a balloted gig in a \u201csecret intimate\u201d venue in London on July 5. \u201cI would love nothing more than for some of you to attend,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s\u00a0only small capacity so we can only select a few, but really looking forward to it, I will sing some new songs.\u201d<\/p>\n

She did not reveal where the show would take place, but fans were urged to sign up for the chance to attend\u00a0via\u00a0a free ballot\u00a0here<\/a>.\u00a0You will be asked for your date of birth,\u00a0location\u00a0and contact details, and those who apply will receive an email from the artist explaining that \u201cwinners will be notified via email on June\u00a015th\u201d.<\/p>\n

In 2020,\u00a0Duffy\u00a0opened up\u00a0about the reason for her continued absence from recording and touring<\/a>, explaining that she had been \u201craped and drugged and held captive over some days\u201d and that her\u00a0subsequent\u00a0recovery \u201ctook time\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou wonder why I did not choose to use my voice to express my pain?\u201d\u00a0she\u00a0continued. \u201cI did not want to show the world the sadness in my eyes. I asked\u00a0myself,\u00a0how can I sing from the heart if it is broken? And slowly it unbroke.\u201d<\/p>\n

Shortly afterwards,\u00a0she called rape a \u201cweapon of war\u201d in a painful account of her experience<\/a>\u00a0shared on her website. She then went on to\u00a0encourage fans to speak out about their personal struggles, adding that she felt \u201cliberated\u201d<\/a>\u00a0after sharing her story.<\/p>\n

Duffy also hit out at\u00a0Netflix that same year, calling them\u00a0\u201cirresponsible\u201d for \u201cglamourising the brutal reality of sex trafficking, kidnapping and rape\u201d in the film\u00a0365 Days<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

An upcoming\u00a0Disney+ documentary will tell Duffy\u2019s story<\/a>, from her upbringing in Wales to her rise to fame, to her subsequent withdrawal, including interviews with family, friends and peers in the industry. The doc was announced in March but has not yet been given a release date.<\/p>\n

After signing a record deal in 2007, Duffy\u2019s 2008 debut album \u2018Rockferry\u2019 became the best-selling record in the UK that year. She released her second album, \u2018Endlessly\u2019,\u00a0in 2010, and in 2020 she returned with the singles \u2018Something Beautiful<\/a>\u2019 and \u2018River\u00a0In\u00a0The\u00a0Sky<\/a>\u2019.<\/p>\n

Last month, she posted a photo of herself in a recording studio, writing: \u201cIf only I could find the right words to explain how much\u00a0I\u2019ve\u00a0missed you all.
