The ex-wife of Paddy McGuinness has made her intention to date women clear but a source now says that she is struggling to get a girlfriend and shared the reason why\"Christine<\/p>\n

She might be enjoying a newfound sense of freedom since splitting from husband Paddy<\/a> four years ago, but Christine McGuinness<\/a> is struggling to strike a balance between having fun and living under the same roof as her ex.<\/p>\n

The former Miss Liverpool, 38, recently revealed she\u2019s chosen to date women over men, saying, \u201cThe only gender I am open to dating is female.\u201d<\/p>\n

But despite being \u201chappily single\u201d, she says making time for romance isn\u2019t that simple when you still share a home with the father of your three young children.<\/p>\n

\u201cChristine wants a girlfriend<\/a>, but it\u2019s very difficult while living in the same home as Paddy,\u201d says our source. \u201cShe can\u2019t bring someone back, because it\u2019s not relaxing. But she and Paddy are putting the kids first, especially when they\u2019re at this young age.\u201d<\/p>\n

The reality TV star, who has been linked to Olympic boxer Nicola Adams and was last month snapped kissing DJ Roxxxan \u2013 real name Roxanne Conway \u2013 in her Land Rover Defender, said, \u201cI have to hold back, because while I\u2019m emotionally and mentally ready for it, my life isn\u2019t. It is s**t.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut I\u2019ve got to be an adult and go, \u2018Can I be in a relationship when I\u2019m still living with my ex-husband?\u2019 So I can\u2019t offer that yet. But I would love to be able to call somebody my wife one day, and be in a really solid, loving, lesbian relationship.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to our source, the biggest issue is the fact there\u2019s no \u201cprivacy\u201d at the family\u2019s \u00a36.5 million Cheshire home, but luckily Christine\u2019s job as a model and influencer means she often attends events in London \u2013 and when she does, she\u2019s able to indulge in some much-needed \u201cme time\u201d.<\/p>\n

However, giving herself space away from Paddy and the kids can leave her feeling conflicted, says our source. \u201cChristine has a dilemma \u2013 she feels torn because she feels she\u2019s got to stay at the house, but she also wants her independence,\u201d explains the source. \u201cShe loves staying in hotels, because she can do what she wants, without prying eyes.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s often late to events because she\u2019s enjoying the space and being on her own. She\u2019s not having to look after anyone but herself and likes having that [alone] time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Christine, who describes herself as a \u201cfree spirit\u201d, has been refreshingly open about her sexuality, saying she first dated girls back when she was a teen.<\/p>\n

\u201c[Age] 14, 15 was probably when I had my first kisses with both,\u201d she told the How To Fail with Elizabeth Day podcast last year. \u201cI never felt it was anything different, or a big deal.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added, \u201cMy experiences with women have been lovely and it\u2019s not like women are better or worse\u2026 It\u2019s simply that the connection for me is different.\u201d<\/p>\n

Christine had just come out of a two-year relationship with a woman when she met former Take Me Out host Paddy at the Liverpool International Tennis Tournament in 2007.<\/p>\n

Love soon blossomed and Christine found herself settling down and starting a family. The couple married in 2011 and went on to have twins Leo and Penelope, 12, and Felicity, nine, but in 2022, after 11 years of marriage, they stunned fans by announcing they had split.<\/p>\n

In a joint Instagram<\/a> story, they revealed how they had made \u201cthe difficult decision\u201d, adding that their focus was to \u201ccontinue loving and supporting\u201d their children.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis was not an easy decision to make, but we\u2019re moving forward as the best parents we can be for our three beautiful children,\u201d they added. \u201cWe\u2019ll always be a loving family, we still have a great relationship and still live happily in our family home together.\u201d<\/p>\n

While starring on last year\u2019s series of Celebs Go Dating, Christine shed light on what led to the breakdown of her marriage. \u201cWe had an amazing 15 years, we really did,\u201d she said. \u201cThe last couple of years, things just weren\u2019t quite the same. I think once the respect isn\u2019t quite there any more, it\u2019s time to leave.\u201d<\/p>\n

Addressing rumours that Paddy may have cheated during their marriage, Christine would only say \u201cthe trust was broken\u201d, but added, \u201cI\u2019ll always love him. He\u2019s the father of my children and I think he\u2019s the only man that I\u2019ll ever love.\u201d<\/p>\n

Since the split, the couple have had one of the least messy break-ups in the history of showbiz, prioritising their three children, who \u2013 like Christine \u2013 all have autism.<\/p>\n

\u201cI love my home and being there for my children,\u201d Christine said last week. \u201cI\u2019m not planning on moving out, but at some point, ideally, a second home for me would be amazing.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve realised I\u2019ve never really had my own safe space or my own privacy. It\u2019s something I feel I am missing.\u201d Ensuring the children\u2019s needs are met puts extra pressure on Christine, says our source.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe children have a very strict routine and they all like things a certain way,\u201d we\u2019re told. \u201cSo Christine\u2019s got to do it by the book, and so has Paddy. If they disturb that routine, it makes everyone\u2019s lives a lot harder.\u201d<\/p>\n

For now, she is happy to dip her toes into the world<\/a> of dating as and when it suits her. \u201cShe\u2019s seeing a few people, she\u2019s having fun, and she\u2019s not putting all her eggs in one basket,\u201d says our source. \u201cShe wants the next relationship to be right.\u201d<\/p>\n
