Kerry Wyatt<\/a> (Laura Norton<\/a>) is beloved by Emmerdale<\/a>\u00a0began her tenure in the Dales as somewhat of an antagonist.<\/p>\n Emerging as the neglectful and problematic mother of Amy Wyatt<\/a>\u00a0(Chelsea Halfpenny and Natalie Ann Jamieson<\/a>), she was initially a character we loved to hate, but as with many soap baddies, she found a way into our hearts and has remained there ever since.<\/p>\n \u2018She\u2019s done a lot of growing up, hasn\u2019t she?\u2019 Laura said of Kerry\u2019s evolution.<\/p>\n \u2018She\u2019s always loved and felt love, I think she\u2019s just never been very good at showing it. She was such a car crash when she came in. I guess these past fifteen years there\u2019s been a lot of growing up, hasn\u2019t there?\u2019<\/p>\n A big part of that is the relationships she\u2019s forged along the way. She eventually became what Amy needed, despite remaining a fierce, fun-loving party animal, and her motherly bond with Amelia also softened her. <\/p>\n \t\t Her relationship with sham-husband<\/a>, Eric Pollard<\/a>\u00a0(Chris Chittell<\/a>), who, alongside his late-wife, Val (Charlie Hardwick), initially took Amy on in her absence, has also gone a long way in reinforcing why we love her so much.<\/p>\n \u2018They are both loveable rogues in very different ways,\u2019 Laura pondered in a chat with Metro as to why she and Eric bond so well.<\/p>\n \u2018She owes him a lot. Because when Amy came to the village, they took her on and adopted her, if you will, and looked after her. And since Amy\u2019s passed, she feels like this is her duty. <\/p>\n \u2018She\u2019s got to look after him, but she genuinely loves him. There was a lovely line in a scene, she says, \u2018I never had a dad. I love him like a dad. He\u2019s the only dad I ever had\u2019. <\/p>\n \t\t \u2018She\u2019s never had that male figure in her life because they do genuinely love each other and although they bicker at times, she has got his best interest at heart and she absolutely adores Jacob [Gallagher<\/a>\u00a0(Joe-Warren Plant<\/a>)] as well. She\u2019s ended up getting a little family unity out of it.\u2019<\/p>\n Hmm, yes, Jacob. The very same Jacob who\u2019s life has been made an abject horror by his insidious former-boss, Dr Todd<\/a>\u00a0(Caroline Harker<\/a>). Despite being fully aware of what an utter cow she is, Kerry showed absolutely no fear in taking her on<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u2018It just makes her a fully rounded character, doesn\u2019t it? This is why I\u2019ve said so many times before. I sound like a broken record. She has no filter but also, she\u2019s very caring.\u2019<\/p>\n \t\t Why did Kerry so eagerly take up for Jacob?<\/p>\n \u2018She\u2019s got this family unit, she lost her daughter and Jacob lost his mum at the same time during the same incident. She carries probably a bit of misplayed guilty, over trying to help Leyla and she didn\u2019t make it. <\/p>\n \u2018She lost her child, so there\u2019s a bit of misplaced guilt going on. What she never gave Amy, she\u2019s trying to fix it by being good to him. She loves him to bits. He\u2019s such a good boy. <\/p>\n The second she sees someone being unkind she\u2019s like \u2018I know your game, and I\u2019m not letting it happen. You won\u2019t get away with bullying him\u2019. She can\u2019t keep her mouth shut. She jumps straight in.\u2019<\/p>\n While the Dales\u2019 newest big bad is currently feuding with Charity Dingle\u00a0<\/a>(Emma Atkins<\/a>), Kerry is about to find herself wrapped up in new step-son Archie Breckle\u2019s (Kai Assi) AI schemes.<\/p>\n \t\t \t\t Is Kerry knowledgeable about what the young\u2019un is up to? According to Laura, not really!<\/p>\n \u2018She\u2019s very confused. They have a big to-do about it. She pulls him on it, and there\u2019s a bit of a to-do where she\u2019s trying to get him to explain what\u2019s going on because she\u2019s really freaked out about it. <\/p>\n \u2018She thinks it\u2019s really weird or creepy and she can\u2019t work it out so she really slams her foot down on it to try and get him to explain to her what\u2019s going on. And obviously he doesn\u2019t immediately tell her the truth, she has to chase around and work it all out for herself.<\/p>\n \t\t Is there something to be learned from the plot?<\/p>\n \u2018It\u2019s scary, isn\u2019t it? There\u2019s things sometimes that I look at on the internet and I can\u2019t tell. I\u2019m literally asking people \u2019is that real?\u2019 It\u2019s so clever. <\/p>\n My dad was going on about getting scammed the other day. There\u2019s this thing where someone will get a text and it will say \u2018hi dad, texting you on someone else\u2019s number because my phone\u2019s broke\u2019. <\/p>\n Because it says Dad, they automatically assume that it\u2019s you and respond asking you what you need help with. It\u2019s that kind of thing and I think for my parents watching that, it\u2019s little thing to be aware of really wary of this so you can say \u2018I saw this on telly.
