A driver has died in hospital and two people remain in a serious condition following a two-vehicle collision in Dumfries and Galloway. <\/p>\n

Emergency services were called to the A709 near Lochmaben around 7.35pm on Saturday following a collision involving a black Vauxhall Vectra car and a white Citroen Dispatch van.<\/p>\n

Three people were taken to hospital for treatment, however the 50-year-old male driver of the Vauxhall died a short time later.<\/p>\n

The occupants of the Citroen, a 67-year-old man and a 55-year-old woman, remain in hospital in a serious condition.<\/p>\n

The road was closed for around eight hours to allow enquiries to be carried out and reopened around 3.30am on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Sergeant Wayne Carnochan said: \u201cOur thoughts are with the family of the man who has died at this time.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this crash and we are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed anything around this time to contact us.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn addition, anyone with relevant dash-cam footage is asked to get in touch as this may be able to assist.\u201d<\/p>\n

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland via 101 quoting reference 2788 of June 6, 2026.<\/p>\n
