One of the more intriguing \u201cwhat ifs\u201d in recent Hollywood history revolves around Quentin Tarantino<\/a>\u2018s unmade Star Trek<\/a> movie. Simon Pegg<\/a>, who played Scotty in the rebooted trilogy, recently shared some of the wild details he heard about Tarantino\u2019s script.<\/p>\n

What did Simon Pegg say about Quentin Tarantino\u2019s Star Trek movie?<\/p>\n

This past weekend, Pegg spoke on a panel at Fan Expo Boston, and Tarantino\u2019s Star Trek movie was brought up during the conversation. While he never read a script, Pegg received a breakdown from J.J. Abrams<\/a> and producer Lindsey Weber. In true Tarantino fashion, it did not disappoint.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat was what we call in the business bats\u2014 crazy,\u201d\u00a0Pegg said via Collider<\/a>. \u201cIt was everything you would expect a Quentin Tarantino\u00a0Star Trek\u00a0script to be.\u201d<\/p>\n

In 2017, Tarantino approached Abrams and Paramount<\/a> with an R-rated pitch for Star Trek. Abrams liked the idea and assembled a writers\u2019 room. The Revenant screenwriter Mark L. Smith was hired to pen the script. <\/p>\n

Tarantino and Abrams were attached to produce, and the Pulp Fiction scribe was under consideration to direct. By 2020, Tarantino said he would not direct his Star Trek concept. As of 2025, there are no plans to make Tarantino\u2019s Star Trek.<\/p>\n

Letting a singular filmmaker like Tarantino make a Star Trek movie would have been a fascinating decision, one that interested Pegg.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it would have been such an incredible sort of curio to see\u00a0Star Trek\u00a0through his lens,\u201d Pegg said.\u00a0\u201cI don\u2019t know how it would have gone over with the fans, but it certainly would have been an interesting thing.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for the long-awaited fourth Star Trek film<\/a> in the Kelvin timeline, Pegg hopes that the recent merger between Paramount and Skydance will reignite the idea.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m hoping now that David Ellison is now high up at Paramount,\u201d Pegg said. \u201cNow the merger\u2019s happened, and David\u2019s always been a big supporter of the Kelvin timeline.
