Following a big redesign<\/a>, Google Wallet is expanding Digital ID support to select regions in Europe and updating the online Google Pay checkout experience.<\/p>\n

The update<\/a> focuses on the Google Wallet experience in Europe. Following a big expansion in India<\/a>, Taiwan, and the UK, Google Wallet Digital ID support is expanding to the EU. What member states are eligible has not been detailed \u2013 Google simply notes \u201cselect\u201d states are eligible.<\/p>\n

Digital IDs will work in partnership with Sparkasse Bank in Europe to streamline the verification process. Users will be able to verify their age via the banking corporation\u2019s own process without revealing any important information about themselves.<\/p>\n

Google says Digital IDs will start rolling out to users \u201cthis summer.\u201d<\/p>\n

Google is also making changes to the Google Pay checkout experience in Europe. Merchants that use Airwallex and Adyen will see the new format first. The user interface looks cleaned up, making payment and address details easy to see and submit without lengthy entry.<\/p>\n

Security on the backend has also been upgraded with an update to Google\u2019s payment authentication. Google says its own payment authentication feature meets EU standards and reduces verification time by 50%. The benefit is checking out without having to find or enter an OTP. Users in the UK and Poland should see an updated Google Pay direct experience \u201cin the coming months.<\/p>\n
