{"id":627002,"date":"2026-06-08T04:55:11","date_gmt":"2026-06-08T04:55:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/627002\/"},"modified":"2026-06-08T04:55:11","modified_gmt":"2026-06-08T04:55:11","slug":"liverpool-transfers-sporting-director-confirms-interest-in-wantaway-midfielder","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/627002\/","title":{"rendered":"Liverpool transfers: Sporting director confirms interest in wantaway midfielder"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio confirmed the Serie A side are interested in signing Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones this summer.<\/p>\n<p>Jones has made 228 appearance for his boyhood club after breaking into the first team at the end of the 2019\/2020 season and has scored 22 goals and laid on 25 assists for the Reds.<\/p>\n<p>But the 25-year-old has rarely been first choice at Anfield and has grew increasingly frustrated over his lack of game under Arne Slot.<\/p>\n<p>He was heavily linked with a move to Inter in January and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.football365.com\/news\/liverpool-jones-push-transfer-slot-sacked-secret-talks\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">still appears to be keen on a move to the San Siro despite Slot being sacked<\/a> and replaced at the helm by Andoni Iraola.<\/p>\n<p>Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed on Saturday that \u201cthe deal is on\u201d to Inter Milan but Liverpool and the Italian side need to get nearer in their valuations of the player.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.football365.com\/news\/liverpool-chiesa-threatens-quit-romano-deal-on-jones-inter-milan\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Romano said on his YouTube channel<\/a>: \u201cInter are very interested in Curtis Jones. Inter are talking to Liverpool. Inter are starting around \u20ac20m [\u00a317.3m], Liverpool want more than \u20ac30m [\u00a325.9m], maybe including a sell-on clause and bonuses.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo there\u2019s still a big gap between Inter and Liverpool, but the deal is on. [Jones] is keen on the move and Chiesa said Jones asked him how life is in Italy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While discussing Inter\u2019s summer transfer plans on Sunday, sporting director Ausilio confirmed that the Serie A side remain interested in Jones.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCurtis Jones, we are paying attention to him,\u201d he said. \u201cWe didn\u2019t hide. We understand what the developments will be.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jones has been asking Italian teammate Federico Chiesa about life in Italy as he considers his options.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJones just asked me what life is like in Italy,\u201d Chiesa said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI told him it\u2019s great and the weather is better than Liverpool, which, aside from that, is a special place.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJones is really strong technically. Inter are right to think about him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chiesa to follow Jones?<\/p>\n<p>Chiesa himself could return to Serie A as the winger insisted \u201cI want to play\u201d after two seasons of very little football at Anfield.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.football365.com\/news\/liverpool-chiesa-threatens-quit-romano-deal-on-jones-inter-milan\" target=\"_blank\">He told Gazzetta dello Sport<\/a>: \u201cI\u2019ve played very little since the start of 2026.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have a great relationship with Liverpool. In January, the club and Slot told me I couldn\u2019t leave, they needed me, partly for numerical reasons. We were in a tight spot. I understood the situation and I was left smiling. Liverpool is always talked about, last year they helped me win the Premier League.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLiverpool had informed me, but then the negotiations with Juve didn\u2019t come to fruition.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI repeat\u2026 I want to play. If I don\u2019t find consistency in the Premier League, I\u2019ll have to look elsewhere.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI barely played in my first year at Liverpool, and in the last season, very little. I\u2019ll go on a training camp in the US, then I\u2019ll talk to the club and the new manager, Iraola, and we\u2019ll see.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m open to anything, the important thing is to play. I\u2019m not so presumptuous as to say: I have to be a starter.
