A BBC Radio 1 star has revealed that her ongoing absence from the airwaves comes after she collapsed on the bathroom floor at 4am and had to be rushed to the hospital<\/p>\n

A BBC Radio 1 star<\/a> has revealed that a sudden collapse had her rushing to A&E as she explained her absence from the airwaves. Mollie King<\/a>, who was one The Saturdays and has been on BBC<\/a> Radio 1 since February 2018, shared the information via an Instagram<\/a> post.<\/p>\n

In her post, Mollie spoke about why she’s been away from her midday show with Matt Edmondson<\/a> for two weeks. She said: “Hi guys! So many of you have kindly messaged me over the past two weeks asking why I haven’t been on air – thank you so much for checking in!<\/p>\n

“After coming home late from work, I suddenly collapsed unconscious on the bathroom floor at 4am, hitting my head and face as I fell. It was a huge shock and I ended up being rushed to A&E.”<\/p>\n

The former singer added that she was “grateful” her fiance, cricketeer Stuart Broad, was there. “I keep thinking how grateful I am that I wasn’t on my own and had Stuart to bring me round after I fell. A huge thank you to Amy and Hannah at St George’s Hospital who were absolutely incredible, stitching me up so well, and even managed to see past the Looney Tunes pyjama top I arrived in (Must buy new pyjamas!).<\/p>\n

“It’s been a real wake up call that I need to make some time to get my strength back, not just for my own health, but so I can be the best version of myself for my family too. Yesterday, was my first day doing anything social. After what has felt like a very long two weeks, it was amazing to get out and spend time with my girls.<\/p>\n

“We even had the surprise of spitting Daddy on a big screen, which made us all smile.” Mollie also posted a picture of herself with her daughter, looking at a big screen that had Stuart on it.<\/p>\n

She continued to thank fans: “Thank you so much to everyone who has checked in on me, and for all the lovely birthday messages too. Your kindness has meant so much. I can’t wait to be back on the radio with Matt today.”<\/p>\n

In the comments, her co-star Matt said: “We’ve missed you.” Several other BBC stars also sent their well wishes, including Melvin Odoom, who said, “sending love, see you later” and Jamie Laing, who commented two red heart emojis.<\/p>\n

Mollie has been working on BBC Radio 1 since Februaru 2018, when she and Matt started co-hosting a Saturday show between 1pm and 4pm.<\/p>\n

The pair soon took on a full-time gig, hosting shows every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Due to her stellar work, Mollie was nominated for Best New Presenter at the Audio and Radio Industry Awards.<\/p>\n

From November 2018 to January 2021, the two moved to co-hosting the Radio 1 weekend breakfast show and later moved back to their original slot. By May 2024, they’d taken over a weekday role, replacing Dean McCullough and Vicky Hawkesworth.<\/p>\n
