British boxing heavyweight Daniel Dubois was left red-faced over the weekend when he missed the Epsom Derby after rocking up Ascot by mistake.<\/p>\n

Dubois, 28, had been invited to Epsom Downs as a guest of promoter Frank Warren – with his Queensbury Promotions in charge of the DerbyFest fan zone at the course. And the boxer would have been one of a handful of names in attendance<\/a>.<\/p>\n

However, when it was time for the main event, Dubois was nowhere to be seen as he was en route to Ascot in Berkshire<\/a> – before realising he had travelled to the wrong racecourse.<\/p>\n

It meant Dubois had to spin around and head to the correct racecourse – where he missed the main event after he was stuck in traffic.<\/p>\n

However, he was able to catch a couple of races, before joking: “We went all over the country to get to this place.<\/p>\n

Dubois was still all smiles after he became a two-time world champion, beating Fabio Wardley with an 11th round stoppage, despite being downed twice by his rival.<\/p>\n

Wardley has since activated his rematch clause in his contract: “The boxing world knows my character, and Saturday night proved that without a shred of doubt.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a fight for the ages, but I made some mistakes that I will rectify in the rematch. Congratulations to Daniel, but I\u2019m coming for you and my belt.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, Dubois won’t wait if Wardley takes too long to recover: \u201cWell, that\u2019s what they\u2019re talking about, but I\u2019m not going to wait on no one.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m going to get busy with that belt, defend that belt, and I can\u2019t wait to start improving, getting out there, and just maximizing what we\u2019ve done and what we\u2019ve worked on since I was a little kid and now we\u2019re here.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would maybe have preferred to fight someone else and travel with that belt.
