Palantir<\/a> CEO Alex Karp<\/a> said the artificial intelligence<\/a> software company’s enterprise customers are “unhappy” with how the frontier labs<\/a> are operating.<\/p>\n “It’s not just the man and woman on the street that is unhappy with the frontier labs, it’s in private, every single enterprise we deal with,” he told CNBC’s Sara Eisen<\/a> on Wednesday. <\/p>\n Many customers, he said, believe these companies don’t understand their businesses and only care about “tokenmaxxing<\/a>,” or burning through AI tokens to signal productivity. <\/p>\n Accelerating costs are raising alarm on Wall Street and fueling efficiency concerns as businesses funnel more AI into workloads and model costs rise. <\/p>\n “It is not that large language models aren’t crucial for the world,” Karp said. “It’s just the implementation is where the value is, certainly in the next seven years.”<\/p>\n Karp’s comments come as two of the leading large language model companies, Anthropic and OpenAI, take steps to go public. The Sam Altman-led ChatGPT maker said Monday it confidentially filed<\/a> for an initial public offering, a week after Anthropic<\/a>.<\/p>\n He told CNBC that most of Anthropic’s public projects are “running on Palantir.” While he often disagrees with CEO Dario Amodei, he said the cofounder is “a very, very important person” who has caught up from behind.<\/p>\n In recent years, Karp has made headlines for his outspoken political views and recently aligned himself with President Donald Trump<\/a>‘s administration, previously donating to campaigns of former Vice President Kamala Harris and President Joe Biden. <\/p>\n Trump has also praised Palantir<\/a> on Truth Social with the company’s ticker symbol and invested in its stock<\/a>. The company donated to last year’s parade for the\u00a0U.S. Army<\/a>‘s 250th birthday.<\/p>\n
