{"id":631455,"date":"2026-06-10T16:28:18","date_gmt":"2026-06-10T16:28:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/631455\/"},"modified":"2026-06-10T16:28:18","modified_gmt":"2026-06-10T16:28:18","slug":"rod-bransgrove-hampshire-chairman-steps-down-after-26-years","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/631455\/","title":{"rendered":"Rod Bransgrove: Hampshire chairman steps down after 26 years"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Hampshire chairman Rod Bransgrove has stepped down from the role after 26 years at the helm.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The move comes after GMR Global, the joint owners of Indian Premier League side Delhi Capitals, completed its full acquisition of the club.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Bransgrove took charge in 2000, overseeing the move to the Utilita Bowl the following year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Kiran Kumar Grandhi, the chairman of GMR Sports, succeeds Bransgrove, who has been appointed honorary life president and will remain a director.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">GMR&#8217;s takeover of Hampshire was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/sport\/cricket\/articles\/cqjrypy1e2ko\" class=\"ssrcss-1fqyhkk-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">first ratified in September 2024<\/a>, when they became the first English county to be owned by an overseas franchise.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The parties agreed a &#8220;phased acquisition&#8221;, which saw GMR take an immediate majority stake with the aim of concluding a 100% takeover within two years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">That process has now been completed, allowing Bransgrove to step down.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Hampshire chairman Rod Bransgrove has stepped down from the role after 26 years at the helm.
