A replica of the historic Nao Santa Mar\u00eda ship is set for sail to Liverpool where it will stop off as part of its new historical outreach tour. The Nao Santa Mar\u00eda ship played a decisive role in the event that changed the course of world history – the discovery of the Americas – and will make the city one of the 30 ports it will visit this year, thanks to Huelva Provincial Council.<\/p>\n

During its stay, the Nao Santa Mar\u00eda will open its decks to visitors of all ages<\/a>, allowing them to explore the ship\u2019s interior, discover life on board in the 15th century and learn about the details of the greatest nautical feat ever achieved.<\/p>\n

A unique cultural and educational experience that transports visitors back to the era of the great navigators. The visit will take place from August 12 to 15 from 10am until 8pm at the Royal Albert Dock.<\/a><\/p>\n

The visit is aimed at both the general public and schools and associations, which may book organised visits. To celebrate the ship’s arrival, the company has launched an online promotion with exclusive discounts, valid only until August 11.<\/p>\n

This full-scale replica of the Nao Santa Mar\u00eda was built by the Nao Victoria Foundation in Punta Umbr\u00eda (Huelva, Spain), with the support of the Provincial Council of Huelva and the Cajasol Foundation, during fourteen months of work, which began in January 2017 and ended in March 2018.<\/p>\n

The arrival of the Nao Santa Mar\u00eda follows in the wake of the Gale\u00f3n Andaluc\u00eda which visited Liverpool for the first time in September.<\/p>\n

The Gale\u00f3n Andaluc\u00eda <\/a>is a unique replica of the Spanish galleons that departed from the Andalusian coasts and between the 16th and 18th centuries.<\/p>\n

It sailed the Atlantic, navigated the Caribbean and American coasts, and covered the vast Pacific route, connecting and communicating the world.<\/p>\n

It is an impressive 55-meter-long ship with six decks, made from iroko and pine wood, and nearly 1,000 square meters of sail area across its seven sails.<\/p>\n

It was built in Punta Umbr\u00eda (Huelva) with meticulous historical accuracy.
