The Department for Work and Pensions and Social Security Scotland have confirmed \u00a3965 payments on Monday for people on the new state pension living in Scotland.<\/p>\n

Social Security Scotland has issued a public announcement over payments going out as expected – despite the bank holiday. The bank holiday is being held north of the border to mark Scotland’s involvement in the World Cup.<\/p>\n

Social Security Scotland said: “Our phonelines and webchat will be closed on Monday 15 June. They will reopen at 8am on Tuesday 16 June. Payments are not affected. If you’re due a payment on Monday 15 June, you should usually receive it by the end of the day.”<\/p>\n

In Scotland, the state pension is paid out by the DWP<\/a>, with the full, new rate worth \u00a3965 a month – or \u00a3241.30 a week. The DWP pays the new state pension to men and women born before 1951 and 1953 respectively.<\/p>\n

It comes as ITV<\/a> Good Morning Britain viewers answered a poll asking: is is “unfair for Scottish people to get a day off on Monday for the FIFA World Cup while the rest of the UK will be hard at work?”<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, host Susanna Reid said on the programme that the bank holiday was \u201coutrageous\u201d and questioned how long it would \u201ctake Scots to get over [it]\u201d.<\/p>\n

Ms Reid said: \u201cLet’s turn our attention to what a lot of people are outraged about this morning \u2013 although lots of people are getting in touch saying let them have it \u2013 the bank holiday in Scotland for their first World Cup opening game.<\/p>\n

“\u201cKing Charles has approved a new one-off bank holiday to allow fans to watch the late night World Cup clash so they get next Monday off.<\/p>\n

\u201cNow, anyone watching might think, is that because the game is late on a Sunday, or early on a Monday morning? No!\u201d<\/p>\n

Ms Reid added: \u201cI mean, it’s pretty outrageous. How long does it take Scots to get over the fact that they’ve played their first match?\u201d<\/p>\n
