(ABC Midwest &amp; Wheatbelt: Chris Lewis)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Mr Trebilcock said he had spent about $10,000 on sand alone to protect his business, but in the past 15 months, he had seen about 50 metres of Lancelin&#8217;s northern beach disappear.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">The hotel owner is not the only one facing this dilemma in the region, with people calling on the government to save their beloved seaside towns.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Time running out<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Sand bags sit in front a cliff of sand. (ABC Midwest &amp; Wheatbelt: Chris Lewis)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Lancelin is a low-lying town, and a large dune that <a class=\"Link_link__kR0xA Link_link__5eL5m ScreenReaderOnly_srLinkHint__OysWz Link_showVisited__C1Fea Link_showFocus__ALyv2\" href=\"https:\/\/www.abc.net.au\/news\/2026-06-01\/wa-storm-leaves-thousands-without-power-in-wild-weather\/106742688\" data-component=\"Link\" data-uri=\"coremedia:\/\/article\/106742688\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">protects it from inundation<\/a> now looks more like a cliff face.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;Once that breaks, we&#8217;re in a world of pain. That could take 18 months,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;We just don&#8217;t have that time.
