\n\tThe team behind Amazon Prime Video\u2019s \u201cOff Campus<\/a>\u201d is denouncing fans of the YA romance series who have \u201cengaged in targeted harassment\u201d toward cast members and their loved ones.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe Off Campus community is built on a shared love of storytelling \u2014 and on respect for the real people who bring it to life,\u201d the show\u2019s account posted on social media<\/a>. \u201cWe ask that everyone in this space extend that respect to our cast and the people in their lives. Accounts that engage in targeted harassment will be removed from following our accounts.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe statement comes after \u201cOff Campus\u201d star Mika Abdalla, who will lead Season 2, announced her split from her fianc\u00e9, Jake Short. A clip has resurfaced and gone viral of the two of them on a podcast, in which Short jokes describes Abdalla as \u201csome bitch.\u201d The former couple issued a joint statement to Us Weekly, clarifying that the clip is not representative of their five-year relationship.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cPeople making harmful and inaccurate assumptions about our dynamic,\u201d the couple wrote. \u201cWe were in a loving, respectful relationship for five years, and it\u2019s hurtful to see playful moments dissected in a way that does not reflect the respect and love we had and still have for each other.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThis is not the first TV show that has had to speak out about certain fans crossing the line. In May, Amazon asked fans of \u201cThe Summer I Turned Pretty\u201d to respect the cast and crew\u2019s privacy during the filming of the movie, posting<\/a>: \u201cWe love the excitement, but sharing locations and visiting set disrupts filming and creates real safety concerns for our cast and crew.\u201d A year before that, the streamer told fans to cool down<\/a> after toxic behavior was targeted toward cast members. \u201cThe show isn\u2019t real but the people playing the characters are,\u201d the official \u201cThe Summer I Turned Pretty TikTok account wrote in a caption\u00a0accompanying a video graphic\u00a0that read: \u201cThe Summer We Started Acting Normal Online.\u201d<\/p>\n
