countryside"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  Path of Desire by textile artist and educator Muriel Prince opened on Saturday, (June 6) at Halliwell\u2019s House Museum in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bordertelegraph.com\/news\/selkirk\/?ref=au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Selkirk<\/a> and runs until August 22.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The exhibition, held in the museum\u2019s Robson Gallery, explores the Borders countryside through a practice Prince calls \u201cdraw walking\u201d\u2014the act of drawing while walking through the landscape.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Muriel Prince said: &#8220;I\u2019m delighted to be exhibiting this collection of new work in the beautiful Robson Gallery at Halliwell\u2019s House, Selkirk.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;The works have emerged from countless hours spent walking, observing and responding to the landscapes of the Scottish Borders.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;I hope visitors will enjoy following these paths with me and perhaps be inspired to look at familiar places in a new way.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Much of the work is rooted in Prince\u2019s walks through Toll Wood in Innerleithen and along the River Tweed.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  During her draw walks, she creates scroll drawings that document her movement, memories, and sensory impressions in real time.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The exhibition includes a reconstruction of her studio wall, displaying walking scrolls, bark rubbings, photographs, sketches, written notes, and gathered fragments.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Visitors will see how repeated motifs and collected fragments are transformed into finished pieces using a mix of drawing, printmaking, collage, photography and textile practice.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Textile scrolls, hand embroidery, and free-motion machine stitching highlight Prince\u2019s long-standing connection to cloth and recognise the Borders\u2019 textile heritage.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Large-scale digitally printed fabric panels combine layered photographic imagery with haiku inspired by what3words locations collected during her walks, creating a poetic dialogue between place and experience.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The exhibition encourages a slower, more attentive way of seeing the world.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Phoebe Stewart, exhibitions and access lead at Live Borders Museums and Galleries, said: &#8220;Path of Desire offers a fascinating insight into Muriel\u2019s creative process and her deep connection with the landscapes of the Scottish Borders.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;The exhibition beautifully demonstrates how walking can become both a method of making and a way of understanding place.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;We are delighted to welcome visitors to experience this thoughtful and engaging body of work.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Path of Desire is free to attend and open Tuesdays to Saturdays from 11am to 4pm.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Path of Desire by textile artist and educator Muriel Prince opened on Saturday, (June 6) at Halliwell\u2019s House&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":634058,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[31],"tags":[6225,6485,6486,1120,96,56,54,55],"class_list":["post-634057","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-arts-and-design","tag-arts","tag-arts-and-design","tag-artsanddesign","tag-design","tag-entertainment","tag-uk","tag-united-kingdom","tag-unitedkingdom"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/634057","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=634057"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/634057\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/634058"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=634057"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=634057"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=634057"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
