St Helens boss Paul Rowley has assessed his side\u2019s 18-6 defeat to Warrington Wolves, and also provided an update on Jonny Lomax.<\/p>\n

The Red Vee lost at the Brewdog Stadium for the first time this season<\/a>, in a result that brings a run of seven home games without defeat to an end.<\/p>\n

Tristan Sailor scored the opening try, capitalising on an incredible solo effort, however that would be the only try of their game, with Saints now failing to score a try in six of their last 10 halves of rugby \u2013 a significantly concerning stat.<\/p>\n

Rowley offered his verdict on the outcome, saying: \u201cI thought it was probably a good game for the neutral to watch.\u00a0I thought we dominated the first half.<\/p>\n

\u201c[We] probably didn\u2019t get enough reward out of it.\u00a0We had enough opportunities in that game to score a lot.\u00a0I thought Warrington dominated the second half.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe things I spoke to you about at halftime, mainly around the ruck, but\u00a0yeah, I just thought there were some really big moments\u00a0where we needed to step up and be a little bit tougher, and we didn\u2019t take that step.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe got what we deserved, really.\u201d<\/p>\n

St Helens half-back set for long-term lay-off<\/p>\n

Veteran half-back Lomax departed the action in the first half, and was taken to hospital to have scans on what looked to be a jaw injury.<\/p>\n

Rowley confirmed as much, and also revealed where the Saints missed him most. He said: \u00a0I think he\u2019s fractured his jaw.\u00a0So that\u2019ll be a long-term for Johnny, unfortunately.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s had some terrible luck, as have quite a few of the boys.\u00a0Hopefully it\u2019s not, but it\u2019s a suspected broken jaw, so that\u2019s really bad news for him.\u201d<\/p>\n

The boss added: \u201cDeon [Cross] came on and Tristan [Sailor] filled that [half-back role].\u00a0Whilst you\u2019ll always miss someone of Johnny\u2019s leadership and calibre,\u00a0probably in those tough moments, that\u2019s probably what affected us most.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis leadership would have been great, being on the field.\u00a0But in terms of how we wanted to play and having half-backs and people in key positions,\u00a0it wasn\u2019t too disruptive.\u201d<\/p>\n
