{"id":634846,"date":"2026-06-12T12:46:08","date_gmt":"2026-06-12T12:46:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/634846\/"},"modified":"2026-06-12T12:46:08","modified_gmt":"2026-06-12T12:46:08","slug":"arrests-after-two-men-stabbed-outside-library-of-birmingham","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/634846\/","title":{"rendered":"Arrests after two men stabbed outside Library of Birmingham"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Two men have been arrested following a double stabbing outside the Library of Birmingham.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Officers were called to Centenary Square in the city centre shortly after 14:30 BST on Thursday, where two men in their 20s were found injured.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">One man suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital where he was in a stable condition, while a second man suffered less serious hand injuries, West Midlands Police said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Two men in their 20s, believed to be known to the victims, were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm early on Friday morning, the force added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">A police spokesperson said it was being treated as an &#8220;isolated incident&#8221; and inquiries were continuing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">They added it was understood the victims had been involved in an altercation between a group of men in an alleyway nearby.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Anyone with more information or footage of the incident has been asked to get in contact.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">A cordon was erected in Centenary Square following the attack, with officers remaining at the scene.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Two men have been arrested following a double stabbing outside the Library of Birmingham.
