No-shows are estimated to cost the<br \/>\nhealthcare sector hundreds of billions of euros annually, while reception teams<br \/>\noften rely on manual processes such as phone calls, waiting lists and<br \/>\nappointment reminders to fill vacant slots at short notice.<\/p>\n<p>TurnUp was founded in 2022 by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/nicolas-de-bruyne\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Nicolas De Bruyne<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/jona-decubber-816936199\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Jona Decubber<\/a>, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/koenlepez\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Koen Lepez<\/a> joining as CEO in 2024 after<br \/>\ninitially investing in the company. The startup has developed an AI platform<br \/>\nthat integrates with existing practice management systems to predict no-shows<br \/>\nand automate follow-up actions. <\/p>\n<p>By analysing historical patient data,<br \/>\nscheduling patterns and external factors, the platform identifies appointments<br \/>\nat risk of being missed and proactively engages patients through targeted<br \/>\ncommunications.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to its predictive<br \/>\ncapabilities, the platform automates tasks such as appointment confirmations,<br \/>\ncancellations, rescheduling and waiting list management. Its AI receptionist,<br \/>\nElissa, can contact patients across multiple languages and outside regular<br \/>\noffice hours, helping practices reduce administrative workloads and make better<br \/>\nuse of available appointment capacity.<\/p>\n<p>Today, TurnUp serves more than 250<br \/>\npractices across Belgium, the Netherlands and the UK, covering more than 2,500<br \/>\ndentists. According to the company, the platform has helped prevent more than<br \/>\n500,000 no-shows while saving receptionists and practice managers tens of<br \/>\nthousands of hours of administrative work.<\/p>\n<p>We always start from the same<br \/>\nquestion: how do we make sure every chair in a practice is filled? No-shows are<br \/>\nthe biggest obstacle to occupancy. In Belgium, the Netherlands and the UK,<br \/>\nwe&#8217;ve shown we can solve that problem. Now we want to do the same for every<br \/>\ncare practice in Europe and then the US.
