Huge opportunities in the 10 Year Health Plan<\/p>\n
Asked what needs to be done over the next five to ten years, panellists felt the 10 Year Health Plan offered \u2018huge opportunities\u2019 but underlined the need to nuance models for local needs. A critical point was in women knowing what is available and where to get help.\u00a0<\/p>\n
A further element was integrating with the wider community to work with local authorities and the voluntary sector and \u2018empower women to learn about their bodies and understand their presentations.\u2019\u00a0<\/p>\n
Vodegel said there was a need to think differently about care models, having realised that a lot of basic education about pregnancy and women\u2019s health was not standard knowledge, such as not drinking alcohol when pregnant.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Sanhita Chakrabarti, an obstetric gynaecologist, public health consultant and deputy chief medical officer at Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes ICB, told delegates: \u2018What women are telling us loud and clear is that they want compassionate provision which is close to home that listens to them at the time that they need their support.\u2019\u00a0<\/p>\n
