\n\tJohn Boyega<\/a> had a different expectation for his \u201cStar Wars<\/a>\u201d arc than what made it on the big screen.<\/p>\n

\n\tDuring an appearance at Fan Expo Boston (via Screen Rant<\/a>), Boyega, who played Stormtrooper turned Rebel soldier Finn in the \u201cStar Wars\u201d sequel trilogy, said he expected his character to become a Jedi alongside Rey after \u201cThe Force Awakens.\u201d He also thought they were destined to become enemies after they both mastered the Force.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI think I assumed he was Force-sensitive from \u2018The Force Awakens\u2019 script or at least by the time I got to the end of \u2018The Force Awakens\u2019 script,\u201d he said. \u201cI thought they were planning dual Jedis. I actually thought that they would Obi-Wan and Darth Vader us a bit. That we would turn against each other or something along those lines.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tSince the debut of his trilogy\u2019s final installment, 2019\u2019s \u201cThe Rise of Skywalker,\u201d Boyega hasn\u2019t spoken very fondly of his time in a galaxy far, far away. In 2020, he told GQ<\/a> that Disney marketed his character \u201cto be much more important in the franchise than they are\u201d to promote the films\u2019 diversity, and then had him \u201cpushed to the side\u201d when the movies were released.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cYou guys knew what to do with Daisy Ridley, you knew what to do with Adam Driver,\u201d Boyega added at the time. \u201cBut when it came to Kelly Marie Tran, when it came to John Boyega, you know fuck all. So what do you want me to say? What they want you to say is, \u2018I enjoyed being a part of it. It was a great experience\u2026\u2019 Nah, nah, nah. I\u2019ll take that deal when it\u2019s a great experience.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tDespite his criticisms, Boyega remains a \u201cmassive, massive\u201d fan of \u201cStar Wars,\u201d according to a 2023 interview with Total Film<\/a>.<\/p>\n
