Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Sandro Tonali, talkSPORT understands.<\/p>\n

Roberto De Zerbi<\/a> is driving his side’s move for the Newcastle United<\/a> midfielder.<\/p>\n

Tonali<\/a> has emerged as one of Spurs’ leading transfer targets ahead of next season.<\/p>\n

Although they have approached the Italian, they are yet to open talks with Newcastle.<\/p>\n

A host of Premier League<\/a> clubs are also keen on the 26-year-old, including Arsenal<\/a> and Manchester City<\/a>.<\/p>\n

However, Tonali’s current preference is to return to former club AC Milan.<\/p>\n

He spent three years with the Italian giants prior to his \u00a352million move to St. James’ Park in 2023.<\/p>\n

During his time with Milan, Tonali won a Serie A title during the 2021\/22 season.<\/p>\n

His current Newcastle contract has two years remaining before it expires in 2028.<\/p>\n

Tonali made 53 appearances for Eddie Howe’s side across all competitions.<\/p>\n

Across those outings, he scored three goals and provided seven assists.<\/p>\n

However, those were not enough to help the Magpies qualify for Europe.<\/p>\n

Newcastle finished the campaign in 12th place, four points adrift of a place in the Conference League.<\/p>\n

Spurs’ transfer business<\/p>\n

De Zerbi has already got to work building his side for next season after Spurs<\/a> narrowly avoided relegation.<\/p>\n

Andy Robertson has joined the club on a free transfer<\/a> from Liverpool after nine years at Anfield.<\/p>\n

The left-back will be joined by Marcos Senesi<\/a>, who will also arrive when his contract expires with Bournemouth on June 30.<\/p>\n

Spurs have also seen two bids rejected for Brighton defender Jan Paul van Hecke<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, they turned back an offer from the Seagulls<\/a> for Luka Vuskovic over the weekend.<\/p>\n
