All Blacks greats Jeff Wilson and Mils Muliaina were left unimpressed by Cam Roigard\u2019s decision to seemingly feign injury before setting up a try.<\/p>\n

The New Zealand Test scrum-half was caught in the air early on during the Hurricanes\u2019 Super Rugby Pacific semi-final against the Blues at the weekend.<\/p>\n

Roigard<\/a> appeared to be hurt following Beauden Barrett\u2019s<\/a> challenge but, with the Blues<\/a> players expecting the physio to treat him, he got back to his feet and sprinted away from the visiting defence.<\/p>\n

It would eventually result in Jordie Barrett touching down for the Hurricanes<\/a>, leading to accusations of cheating.<\/p>\n

\u2018Don\u2019t want it in a final\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think that was the right thing to carry on,\u201d Muliaina said on The Breakdown.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes, he was trying to speed it up and he was okay \u2013 I\u2019m alright with that, even to the extent he\u2019s stayed down for that.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat we\u2019re used to doing is going upstairs and that could have been a yellow card, but what I don\u2019t like is something out of the ordinary just popping up and going, \u2018let\u2019s play on\u2019, because a try came out of that.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t want something like that in a final to influence the result.\u201d<\/p>\n

The player has defended his actions but Wilson joined Muliaina in being uncomfortable with something like that being allowed.<\/p>\n

While they did not outrightly condemn it, the optics of the situation certainly did not sit well with the All Blacks greats.<\/p>\n

\u2018It is what it is\u2019 \u2013 Cam Roigard breaks his silence after simulation accusation in Hurricanes\u2019 semi-final triumph over Blues<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m a little bit uneasy about the fact that the Blues players were coming to check on his health and wellbeing \u2013 they were coming forward to make sure he was okay. Fin Christie taps him on the shoulder and there was clearly nothing wrong with him,\u201d Wilson said.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe took advantage of the situation, that\u2019s up to his conscience to decide whether or not he would do it again. He clearly thinks it\u2019s fine, I\u2019m not convinced.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think Beauden Barrett is fortunate the game was not stopped because he quite easily could have got a yellow card, and then it comes to the TMO and why he didn\u2019t stop the game.\u201d<\/p>\n

Muliaina added: \u201cCome on, I know it was early in the game, but are you going to do that in the final? If someone goes down like that and all of a sudden gets back up, is he going to have a go? I don\u2019t think so.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet\u2019s be consistent about it and that doesn\u2019t sit right with me.\u201d<\/p>\n

An alternative view<\/p>\n

Another former All Black, Stephen Donald, was also on the panel and he had a different verdict to Wilson and Muliaina.<\/p>\n

Donald enjoyed Roigard\u2019s ability to exploit the situation and almost put a different stamp on the feigning injury gamesmanship.<\/p>\n

\u201cI loved it. There are guys who lie down all the time that wait for the referee to go upstairs and hopefully get the opposition a yellow card,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat\u2019s highlighted here is Cam\u2019s taking advantage of it and, look, he\u2019s a clever footballer.\u201d<\/p>\n
