A Hull boxer has secured an international title victory in New York after a standout performance on a prestigious US fight card.<\/p>\n
Saul Matchett<\/a>, representing Vulcan Boxing Club in Hull<\/a>, competed in the Strong Island Fight Night – Next Up Boxing Series, in New York. It is a promotion known for showcasing top amateur talent from across America. The event, led by experienced promoter Kristian Vasquez, is widely respected for delivering a professional-style boxing platform.<\/p>\n Saul, who is from Boulevard in west Hull, said: \u201cIt was an incredible experience to fight in New York against a strong opponent. Supported in New York by Brotherhood Boxing Club and coach Pedro Montalvo, Saul delivered a composed and confident performance. He took control of the first two rounds, with the third round more closely contested as both fighters exchanged heavy shots.<\/p>\n All five judges scored the bout in Saul\u2019s favour, awarding him a unanimous decision victory and securing the international title. Saul\u2019s success continues to highlight the strength of boxing talent emerging from the Hull area, as he looks ahead to the next stage of his career.<\/p>\n Vulcan Boxing Coach, Sebastian Glazer said: \u201cSaul\u2019s talent is homegrown, he has dedicated years of hard work to his sport and this marks Saul\u2019s 32nd contest, adding to an already impressive amateur career that has seen him compete internationally in Portugal and Greece.
