\nFurther upgrades are set to debut later this year with Gemini Intelligence on smartwatches.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s been just under a month now since Google first introduced us to Wear OS 7<\/a>, promising everything from advanced Gemini Intelligence functionality, to new watch face support, to a tangible improvement in battery life. After getting initial testing started with a Canary build for developers, Wear OS 7 is now ready for its big public debut.<\/p>\n

What to look for in Wear OS 7<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s start with the features we\u2019re actually getting today, as Wear OS 7 updates begin becoming available for eligible Pixel Watch models. Those include the Pixel Watch 2 and newer releases \u2014 remember, Google only guarantees 3 years of software support<\/a> for these wearables, so the OG Pixel Watch is being left behind.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t want to miss the best from Android Authority?<\/p>\n

\"Google<\/p>\n

Live Updates<\/a> have been a very nice addition to notifications on our phones, letting us track stuff like delivery status in real time. Now in Wear OS 7, that same sort of convenience is coming to your wrist.<\/p>\n

Another Wear OS 7 upgrade landing right out of the gate is the work Google\u2019s done to optimize power consumption. We wouldn\u2019t be surprised if everyone\u2019s experience here varies a little bit, but Google promises an \u201cup to\u201d 10% improvement in battery endurance, compared to devices running Wear OS 6.<\/p>\n

\"Wear<\/p>\n

Wear OS already lets you control your music, and that\u2019s only getting better with Wear OS 7. A new audio switcher will empower you to manage music across all your connected devices, even if your phone\u2019s out of reach.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s just the tip of the iceberg<\/p>\n

In addition to what\u2019s landing for Pixel Watch users today, Google\u2019s also giving us a look forward at all the other Wear OS 7 additions set to arrive over the next few months.<\/p>\n

For starters, those extended media controls we just mentioned are only a part of a big new push towards better interoperability with other smart devices in your life, and that\u2019s set to include the first \u201cIntelligent Eyewear<\/a>\u201d smart glasses coming from Google and Samsung this fall.<\/p>\n

The really big one, though, is almost certainly the forthcoming availability of Gemini Intelligence<\/a> features. This major agentic upgrade promises to give Google\u2019s AI the ability to autonomously perform some really complex tasks, and it\u2019s not just going to be limited to phones, with Google confirming that Gemini Intelligence will hit Wear OS 7 later this year \u2014 for \u201cselect\u201d devices. Unfortunately, Google\u2019s being incredibly cagey so far about clarifying precisely what that entails, and it\u2019s not at all certain what functionality, if any, may be coming to existing wearable hardware.<\/p>\n

When it does arrive, at least, we can look forward to features like Create My Widget<\/a> letting you just describe the functionality you\u2019re looking for, and watch as Gemini Intelligence makes it a reality. We\u2019ll also be seeing a visual overhaul with Google\u2019s new \u201cNeural Expressive\u201d design language rolling out. And with Personal Intelligence<\/a> support, Gemini will be able to access the data you store across services like Docs and Gmail in order to surface information you need about your own life.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ve still got a lot of questions about just how Gemini Intelligence for Wear OS 7 will arrive, but even if we\u2019re not getting those answers today, there\u2019s still plenty here that\u2019s new and ready for you to try out right now on your Pixel Watch.<\/p>\n
