{"id":642543,"date":"2026-06-17T00:01:16","date_gmt":"2026-06-17T00:01:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/642543\/"},"modified":"2026-06-17T00:01:16","modified_gmt":"2026-06-17T00:01:16","slug":"danny-brough-open-to-rugby-league-coaching-offers-after-leaving-union-role-total-rugby-league","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/642543\/","title":{"rendered":"Danny Brough open to rugby league coaching offers after leaving union role \u2013 Total Rugby League"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>                                        <a href=\"https:\/\/www.totalrl.com\/danny-brough-open-to-rugby-league-coaching-offers-after-leaving-union-role\/\" title=\"Permanent Link to Danny Brough open to rugby league coaching offers after leaving union role\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img width=\"480\" height=\"270\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns=\" http:=\"\" class=\"bestwp-post-thumbnail-single wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" decoding=\"async\" fetchpriority=\"high\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/BroughDanny-LKEI-HPS-DW-e1746785761557.jpg\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>FORMER Man of Steel Danny Brough says he\u2019s happy to listen to offers \u2013 from either code \u2013 after standing down as coach of Huddersfield Rugby Union Club.<\/p>\n<p>The ex-Scotland halfback, who won Super League\u2019s top individual award as skipper of Huddersfield Giants in 2013, has had an impressive two years at the Lockwood Park helm.<\/p>\n<p>Last year the three-time League Express Albert Goldthorpe Medal winner led his charges to second place in Regional One North-East, then to Twickenham, where they lost out to Oundle in the Papa John\u2019s Cup Regional One final.<\/p>\n<p>This year, after a lateral move, his team were champions of Regional One North-West, so regaining the National Two North (level four) status lost in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Huddersfield, whose team included former NRL, Super League, England and Great Britain back Gareth Widdop and ex-Rugby League centre or backrower Ed Barber, won all but one of their 22 matches.<\/p>\n<p>Brough, 43, a Challenge Cup winner with Hull FC in 2005 who also played for hometown Dewsbury, York, Castleford, Wakefield and Bradford, retired as a player in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>He became Huddersfield RU\u2019s defence coach in December 2023 before taking the top job shortly before the end of that season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe plan was always to do it for two years, then step away,\u201d explained Brough, who was last year linked with the Keighley job.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve really enjoyed working with the Huddersfield lads, and getting to Twickenham then winning a title isn\u2019t too bad, is it?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI enjoy coaching and I\u2019d be up for a new challenge if it\u2019s the right one for me.
