{"id":643096,"date":"2026-06-17T07:27:08","date_gmt":"2026-06-17T07:27:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/643096\/"},"modified":"2026-06-17T07:27:08","modified_gmt":"2026-06-17T07:27:08","slug":"scarborough-boxing-club-expansion-set-with-700000-funding","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/643096\/","title":{"rendered":"Scarborough boxing club expansion set with \u00a3700,000 funding"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">A boxing club in Scarborough is set to expand with a main training hall, full-sized boxing ring and gym space after \u00a3700,000 of funding was secured. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Westway Boxing Club had already been given \u00a3350,000 for the project from Broadland Properties but North Yorkshire Council agreed to provide the remaining amount at a meeting earlier. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The council said it marked a major step forward for grassroots sport and laid the foundations for the site&#8217;s plans to strengthen its home and impact in the community.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Boxing coach Ryan Ashworth, a long-time member of the club, said: &#8220;This investment is a fantastic opportunity to strengthen grassroots sport and secure the club&#8217;s future for the next 100 years.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">He added: &#8220;We&#8217;re excited not only to double our capacity, but to expand the support we offer to young people and vulnerable adults, giving them a safe, positive space to build confidence, discipline and life skills.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;And this is just the start.
