Christian Mbilli spent some time talking to Ring Magazine about his upcoming fight with Canelo Alvarez, getting the call, how he views the matchup, and why he thinks Canelo will regret ever stepping into the ring with him. Mbilli defends the WBC super middleweight title on September 12, but hear some of what he has to say on the upcoming fight below.<\/p>\n
Mbilli on getting this chance at Canelo<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was a surprise for me when they asked for the fight, but I\u2019m very happy to fight Canelo for my next fight\u2026after contract negotiation finish, we sign very fast.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe started [boxing professionally at] 15 years old, he have a lot of fights now. I think his performance is going down but he\u2019s still very dangerous. I think it\u2019s a perfect timing for me to beat him.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m a very dangerous fighter for him, but I have to be careful too because he\u2019s Canelo. He\u2019s not like a small boxer. But I think I will make a very big statement with this fight, and I\u2019m very dangerous for him.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m going to put more pressure, more combination, but I\u2019m going to work my defense, too. I\u2019m in the ring to put on great show, to make amazing fight, and will be the same for Canelo.<\/p>\n
\u201cI will not chance anything [about how I approach the fight]. I will throw punch the first second and last second of the fight and I hope he will be ready because I think it will be amazing fight for him. I think he will regret to be in the ring.<\/p>\n
