Fortnite<\/a> maker Epic is, perhaps unsurprisingly, all-in on generative AI \u2013 proudly so.<\/p>\n

It released various videos earlier this week<\/a>, showing how it\u2019s incorporating the controversial technology into its workflow, from concept art creation through to environmental models and everything in between.<\/p>\n

Separately to this, the dev revealed today that it\u2019s collaborating with several games for future Fortnite crossovers, including Sonic Racing Crossworlds<\/a>, Control Resonant<\/a>, and Vampire Survivors<\/a>.<\/p>\n

But UK dev Poncle \u2013 the studio behind the acclaimed bullet heaven game \u2013 has released a statement, saying it\u2019s \u201creviewing\u201d its partnership with Epic following the company\u2019s commitment to generative AI.<\/p>\n

Writing on Reddit<\/a>, a spokesperson for the studio said:<\/p>\n

\u201cFollowing today\u2019s news about gen AI usage by Epic to create all sorts of game assets, including Fortnite characters, we\u2019re currently \u2018reviewing\u2019 our collaboration with Fortnite. We\u2019ll let you know if anything moves forward.\u201d<\/p>\n

I suppose the concern for Poncle here is having its IP associated with generative AI, especially if it\u2019s used to help conceptualise Vampire Survivors characters within Fortnite.<\/p>\n

Obviously the indie dev has had a lot of success these past few years, so it doesn\u2019t necessarily need Epic\u2019s money here. It\u2019ll be interesting to see whether the parties can come to an agreement, or if Vampire Survivors\u2019 content will be removed from Fortnite\u2019s roadmap entirely.<\/p>\n
