{"id":645932,"date":"2026-06-18T20:14:09","date_gmt":"2026-06-18T20:14:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/645932\/"},"modified":"2026-06-18T20:14:09","modified_gmt":"2026-06-18T20:14:09","slug":"man-jailed-for-fatally-shooting-cousin-at-wake-in-hammersmith","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/645932\/","title":{"rendered":"Man jailed for fatally shooting cousin at wake in Hammersmith"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">A man has been jailed for life after shooting his cousin dead and injuring his brother at a family wake in west London.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Jahmel Joseph, 29 and from Ealing, killed Jordan Rodney by shooting him at close range with a shotgun. He also shot Omar Joseph in the head and hand during the incident in Hammersmith on 11 June 2025.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">At the Old Bailey, Joseph, who has schizophrenia, said he believed Rodney was going to kill him, however Judge Nigel Lickley said there had been some &#8220;clear thinking&#8221; in his behaviour.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">He was handed a minimum term of 39 years after a jury found him guilty of murder, attempted murder, possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life, dangerous driving and possessing a shotgun.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Sentencing him, Judge Lickley said: &#8220;You have committed crimes of the utmost brutality.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;You have murdered Jordan Rodney, a person who showed you support and kindness, by shooting him in the face at point-blank range.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">He added: &#8220;It is only by very good fortune that this is not a case of double murder.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Earlier, the court heard Rodney, 30, had been arguing with Joseph at the wake before a relative told them to keep the noise down and instructed Joseph to go home.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Shortly before midnight, Joseph returned on a Yamaha motorcycle armed with a shotgun to carry out the attack.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A man has been jailed for life after shooting his cousin dead and injuring his brother at a&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":645933,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[3],"tags":[59,57,58,50,56,54,55],"class_list":["post-645932","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-united-kingdom","tag-gb","tag-great-britain","tag-greatbritain","tag-news","tag-uk","tag-united-kingdom","tag-unitedkingdom"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/645932","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=645932"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/645932\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/645933"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=645932"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=645932"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=645932"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
