We\u2019re in the middle of a retro revolution, with various compilations, collections, and re-releases deploying every day on modern platforms.<\/p>\n

One of several publishers leading the charge is QUByte, a Brazilian publisher with a number of niche licenses under its umbrella, which it\u2019s resurrecting for new audiences.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

In a short 10-minute presentation<\/a> earlier today, it announced 13 retro games will be returning on the PS5 and PS4 in 2026 and 2027.<\/p>\n

They are as follows.<\/p>\n

Gaelco Sports Collection (2026)
\n\"These<\/a><\/p>\n

Gaelco, not to be confused with Jaleco, is a Barcelona-based arcade game publisher established in the 1980s. This new compilation will feature five sports-themed arcade games released between 1992 and 1996.<\/p>\n

Squash (1992)
\nWorld Rally Championship (1993)
\nTouch and Go (1995)
\nWorld Rally 2: Twin Racing (1995)
\nSnowboard Championship (1996)<\/p>\n

Biomechanical Toy (16th July)
\n\"These<\/a><\/p>\n

Biomechanical Toy is a run-and-gun shooter, similar to the likes of Contra<\/a>, originally released in arcades in 1995. It made its console debut on the Evercade a few years ago, and will now make its way to the PS5 and PS4 as a standalone digital release.<\/p>\n

Thunder Hoop Collection (2026)
\n\"These<\/a><\/p>\n

The Thunder Hoop Collection includes two more run-and-gun arcade games from Gaelco, with its protagonist modelled on Goku from the Dragon Ball franchise.<\/p>\n

\nThunder Hoop Strikes Back (1994)<\/p>\n

Invasion from Beyond (2027)
\n\"These<\/a><\/p>\n

Also known as B-Movie outside of North America, Invasion from Beyond is a middling PS1 flight combat game inspired by 1950s sci-fi schlock.<\/p>\n

Motor Mash (2027)
\n\"These<\/a><\/p>\n

Another game from the PS1 era, Motor Mash was developed by UK studio Eutechnyx and looked and played a little bit like Micro Machines<\/a>. Its lead programmer Ian Copeland actually worked on the Codemasters franchise previously, although this game didn\u2019t attract the same critical acclaim.<\/p>\n

TigerShark (2027)
\n\"These<\/a><\/p>\n

Developed by US studio n-space, TigerShark\u2019s hook was that you piloted a so-called war machine capable of operating both above and below the water \u2013 a hybrid boat and submarine, if you like. It\u2019s another game that got middling reviews upon release, but an interesting relic nonetheless.<\/p>\n

Free Updates to Existing Games (2027)
\n\"These<\/a>\"These<\/a><\/p>\n

Two existing QUByte releases are adding PS1 versions for free next year. Those are: Glover<\/a> and Street Racer Collection<\/a>. If you own either of these already, you\u2019ll be able to play the original PlayStation versions of these games at no extra cost. Nice!<\/p>\n
