Wakefield Trinity head coach Daryl Powell has admitted that the replacement for the outgoing Cam Scott could already be at the club, with an update issued on the club\u2019s current recruitment stance for 2027.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday evening, Trinity confirmed that Scott would leave at the end of the year<\/a> with Bradford Bulls moving to announce that they had signed the Wakefield man for 2027.<\/p>\n

Scott was one of just a few players at Wakefield who remained off-contract and when asked if it\u2019s fair to say that their 2027 squad is more or less set, Daryl Powell admitted that the club are \u2018not too far away\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s a couple of moving parts, but we\u2019re pretty solid, I think,\u201d he said in Thursday\u2019s press conference<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cObviously, we\u2019re always looking at early retentions as well, which is important in the current marketplace, so there\u2019s a few moving parts, but we\u2019re not too far off.\u201d<\/p>\n

How will Wakefield Trinity replace Cam Scott<\/p>\n

On Scott exiting, Powell paid tribute to the former Hull FC man who has been at the club since the start of the 2025 season.<\/p>\n

The Trinity boss said: \u201cI think he\u2019s been great. He\u2019s been a really good player for us. We made the decision that we\u2019d move in a different direction and that happens. That doesn\u2019t take away what Cam\u2019s done with us.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think he\u2019s been a high-quality player for us. He\u2019s done some outstanding things and I know he\u2019s looking forward to having a great season for the remainder of this.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cThe nature of the beast is players move on. I want to wish him all the best when that comes around, but that\u2019s out of the way now. It\u2019s moving on and him playing his best rugby league when he does is an outstanding centre.\u201d<\/p>\n

On whether the club plan to sign a replacement or if his replacement is already at the club, Powell admitted that the answer may be a \u2018little bit of both\u2019.<\/p>\n

We\u2019re still looking at the moment but obviously, Pratty has played on the wing a lot this year and we see him potentially as a centre down the track.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think recruitment will play a bit of a part in that, and that depends on who\u2019s available and who we can get, really. That\u2019s ongoing at the moment.\u201d<\/p>\n
