After recently seeming to confirm his much-speculated about marriage<\/a> to\u00a0Zendaya<\/a>,\u00a0Tom Holland<\/a>\u00a0has shared another monumental update.<\/p>\n

In the same Esquire interview, he named who he thinks should be his\u00a0Spider-Man<\/a>\u00a0successor.<\/p>\n

Tom has led a record four Spider-Man films. Former star Andrew Garfield<\/a> featured in two of the franchise\u2019s films, while Tobey Maguire<\/a> starred in three.<\/p>\n

When asked who should follow him, the The Odyssey<\/a> actor said: \u201cOwen Cooper<\/a> would be awesome.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cooper is the star of\u00a0Netflix<\/a>\u00a0hit Adolescence<\/a>. His role as the teenage main character earned him a record-breaking Emmy award \u2013 he became the youngest ever male actor to receive the accolade back in 2025.<\/a> He also scooped up awards at this year\u2019s BAFTAs<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cObviously he\u2019s super-talented and the talk of the town right now,\u201d Tom continued in the interview.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s hard not to think Owen would be excited by the recommendation \u2013 not least because he told i-D in 2025<\/a>, \u201cI want to play Spider-Man\u201d.<\/p>\n

And it sounds like Tom is looking to get into mentor mode.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the way that Robert Downey was such a mentor for me in my first three movies, I would love to be that person for whoever is next,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

The actor has previously praised Downey\u2019s role in his Marvel journey, saying he gave him \u201cthe best advice\u201d<\/a> he\u2019s ever got for acting.<\/p>\n

He also said<\/a> the Iron Man<\/a> actor stood up for him during Captain America: Civil War.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I got to set after I\u2019d got the gig, we came to set I was meeting Marissa Tomei for the first time and I was now working with The Russos. And Downey was there. My scene had been cut down significantly from what I\u2019d done in the audition to now a page and a half or maybe even two pages,\u201d he shared.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd we start shooting the scene and Downey piped up and was like \u2018Where\u2019s all the kid\u2019s lines gone?\u2019 And [directors] the Russos sort of said \u2018Look, this already a 140 page script. We can\u2019t spend too much time on this.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd Downey was the one that was like \u2018No, you\u2019re going to want to spend some time on this. Let\u2019s shoot the whole thing from the audition. You can always cut it, but you\u2019d want to have it.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Only time will tell if he\u2019ll have reason to offer Owen similar assistance.<\/p>\n
