{"id":65181,"date":"2025-08-14T00:21:06","date_gmt":"2025-08-14T00:21:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/65181\/"},"modified":"2025-08-14T00:21:06","modified_gmt":"2025-08-14T00:21:06","slug":"manu-tuilagi-set-to-swap-nations-for-the-2027-rugby-world-cup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/65181\/","title":{"rendered":"Manu Tuilagi set to swap nations for the 2027 Rugby World Cup"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>World Rugby\u2019s recent eligibility shake-up has opened the door for a host of England internationals to represent another nation \u2014 and Manu Tuilagi could be one of the biggest names to make the switch.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/channel\/AbYd2l05pp1bM_Ix\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Join RUCK\u2019s Instagram broadcast channel\u00a0<\/a>and get the latest rugby news straight to your phone.<\/p>\n<p>The updated laws allow players to change allegiance if they haven\u2019t played Test rugby for three years and have a birth, parent, or grandparent link to their new nation.<\/p>\n<p>Tuilagi, recently named in the Top 14 Team of the Season, has admitted he could realistically make the move.<\/p>\n<p>In an extensive interview with\u00a0The Daily Telegraph, the youngest Tuilagi revealed that while \u201cEngland is very special to me, of course, but my heart and home is still Samoa.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019d love to pull on the blue jersey one day,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Manu is the odd one out in his rugby-playing family, with brothers Anitelea, Alesana, Henry and Freddie all opting to play for Manu Samoa rather than the European nations they lived in during their careers.<\/p>\n<p>If he sticks to his plan, Tuilagi could be available for Samoa at the 2027 Rugby World Cup \u2014 although time isn\u2019t on his side, as he would be 35 by then.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJustified\u201d \u2013 2025 Lions star included on list of SIX worst ever Lions<\/p>\n<p>The 2022 list, compiled by Pundit Arena, examines players who may have been more unlucky than lacking ability, while others arguably had no place in a British &amp; Irish Lions jersey.<\/p>\n<p>Read on to find out which names feature among the Lions\u2019 most forgettable selections.<\/p>\n<p>Pundit Arena\u2019s WORST LIONS PLAYERS:<\/p>\n<p>6 \u2013 Stuart Hogg<\/p>\n<p>PA: \u201c\u00a02013 and 2017 went badly for the Scot.
