Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has offered some sage advice on Florian Wirtz after analysing the \u00a3116m playmaker’s performances for Germany at the World Cup\"Florian<\/p>\n

Jurgen Klopp has suggested that Andoni Iraola should build his new-look Liverpool<\/a> side around Florian Wirtz<\/a>. Iraola is plotting how to go about things at Liverpool after taking over from Arne Slot<\/a> and has been given some advice from the club’s former manager.<\/p>\n

Wirtz has played every minute of Germany’s two World Cup matches so far, helping them beat Curacao and Ivory Coast<\/a>. He has been handed the keys to the attack by Julian Nagelsmann, who has asked the 23-year-old to roam and create.<\/p>\n

The playmaker who Liverpool paid \u00a3116million for from Bayer Leverkusen last summer has one assist from Felix Nmecha’s opener in the 7-1 thrashing of Curacao, but is yet to really light the tournament up. It comes after he managed seven goals and 10 assists for Liverpool in 49 appearances in his debut season.<\/p>\n

Klopp never coached Wirtz, who arrived after his departure from Anfield, but is clearly a huge fan of the diminutive midfielder. He believes that, in order to get the best out of him, Wirtz needs to feel the confidence of his manager and team-mates.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe important thing is that we involve him in the game. There were moments against Curacao<\/a> when I thought, just give him the ball,\u201d Klopp said while analysing the 2-1 win over Ivory Coast on Magenta TV.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot even because he was the best passing option, but because, as a team-mate, I want Flo Wirtz to feel good. If I were [Nico] Schlotterbeck, I\u2019d just give him the ball five times for no particular reason and see what he does.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you really want Flo Wirtz to get into a rhythm, if you want the place to really be buzzing, then give him the ball, because that\u2019s when he feels completely at home. It’s important to involve him because that’s when Flo can feel confident and comfortable on the pitch.<\/p>\n

“He shouldn’t drop back and get the ball from his own penalty area and we expect him to start making plays, we have to find moments where we can use this position, because with his positioning he creates a lot of space for the players next to him, for the full-backs and for everyone who can make runs into those space.”<\/p>\n

Denis Undav was the star against Ivory Coast, coming off the bench to score twice as Germany<\/a> came from behind to win. They have now secured their place in the knockout stages of the World Cup, meaning Nagelsmann may opt to rotate his side for their final Group E game against Ecuador<\/a> on Thursday.<\/p>\n
