\u201cI love the fight. I love the fight for Schofield, I love the fight for Gervonta. Gervonta is one of the best fighters out there today,\u201d De La Hoya said during Golden Boy\u2019s DAZN broadcast.<\/p>\n \u201cBut the fact of the matter is, Gervonta is a champion in recess. That\u2019s exactly what the WBA has said. So what we feel is, let Schofield fight the next available top contender, who could be maybe Lucas Bahdi. That would be a terrific fight for the full world title.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cSchofield will be a force to be reckoned with, a world champion, and maybe down the road, we can make that Gervonta fight happen,\u201d said De La Hoya.<\/p>\n De La Hoya was also asked about Davis\u2019 current situation outside the ring.<\/p>\n \u201c(Tank) has to take care of his issues,\u201d De La Hoya said. \u201cI do wish him the best. I hope he does figure it out because we do miss him in the ring. I hope that one day we get Floyd Schofield with Gervonta Davis.\u201d<\/p>\n The WBA ordered Davis and Schofield to begin negotiations earlier this month. De La Hoya\u2019s comments on Saturday were the strongest indication yet that Schofield could move in a different direction.<\/p>\n Bahdi is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Ryan James Racaza in May.
