She revealed the six years as \u201cthe most dehumanising, devastating and humiliating moment\u201d of her life.<\/p>\n

Six years later, her diagnosis encouraged her to thrive both personally and professionally.<\/p>\n

Gemma recently passed her Band 3 apprenticeship, with the help of her tutor, Aftab.<\/p>\n

She said: \u201cI know I\u2019m different from everyone else \u2013 there is something wrong with my brain, which requires more one-on-one support.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut now I feel like I\u2019m cemented in my job and capable and competent \u2013 this is what I do every day.\u201d<\/p>\n

She mentioned how much happier she is as she now reflects on her tough journey and turns it into inspiration and giving back to the community.<\/p>\n

Through being asked to talk to the young people of Lancashire through the King\u2019s Trust, Gemma said: \u201cWhen I started on the Prince\u2019s Trust programme, I didn\u2019t have that person to look up to in a similar situation to me, and if I can be that someone with a chronic illness, lacking confidence.<\/p>\n

Following her personal growth progression, Gemma is now eyeing the next step in her career with an application to become a therapy assistant practitioner.<\/p>\n

She added: \u201cThe world is my oyster; I have momentum and hopefully there are more opportunities to come.\u201d<\/p>\n
