Wyndham Clark has banked a record-breaking prize fund by winning the 2026 US Open.<\/p>\n

Clark claimed his second major title at Shinnecock Hills<\/a>, dealing with a hostile crowd and a star-studded chasing pack to win by one shot.<\/p>\n

Clark won the 2023 US Open at LA Country Club and in doing so, scooped the $3.6million winner\u2019s cheque.<\/p>\n

But as prize money continues to spiral in the men\u2019s professional game, that amount is now small change compared to this year\u2019s winnings.<\/p>\n

Clark’s glory in Long Island means he’s taking home a staggering $4.5m.<\/p>\n

The total purse has also increased to $22.5m meaning Sam Burn’s second earned him $2.43m and Tom Kim won $1.53m in third.<\/p>\n

For context, when Dustin Johnson won at Oakmont in 2016, he received $1.8m while Tiger Woods\u2019 three US Open titles were worth $3.15m combined!<\/p>\n

The incredible numbers trickle all the way down the leaderboard.<\/p>\n

Dylan Wu, who ended up finishing 67th and the last place of the players who made the weekend, earned a consolation prize of $42,863.<\/p>\n

And the 69 professionals who missed the cut still receive $10,000.<\/p>\n

The US Open is on par with the Masters for the most lucrative major with the PGA Championship just behind and The Open worth far less.<\/p>\n

The Players Championship continues to boast the highest purse in the regular season while the play-off finale at the Tour Championship is worth $40m.<\/p>\n

Next week’s Travelers Championship<\/a> is a Signature Event on the PGA Tour and will have a purse of $20m.<\/p>\n

This year’s fourth and final major is fast approaching at The Open at Royal Birkdale will be worth around $17m.<\/p>\n

JJ Spaun won $4.3m for his US Open victory at Oakmont last year.<\/p>\n

Spaun holed a stunning 65-foot birdie on the final hole to secure a two-shot win over Robert MacIntyre and claim his maiden major title last year.<\/p>\n

He said: “The journey has been tough at times, but I stuck at it and gave my very best. Finally, that stubbornness, that refusal to lie down, has been rewarded.<\/p>\n
