He won La Route d&#8217;Occitanie earlier this month, and he&#8217;ll be making his career Tour debut as the youngest member of the Visma squad.<\/p>\n<p>            You may like<\/p>\n<p aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"kiosq-b\">&#8220;Marc [Reef, Visma-Lease a Bike head of racing \u2013 Ed.] called me a few days ago and it was really special. I have to say that my answer was &#8216;What?&#8217; It&#8217;s amazing,&#8221; Piganzoli said in an interview during the team&#8217;s squad reveal livestream.<\/p>\n<p aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"kiosq-b\">&#8220;For sure, I&#8217;m really proud of what we did in the Giro and also to come back home and think about how I worked for the Giro and during the Giro, it&#8217;s so special. I gave everything and it&#8217;s more motivation for the Tour.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"kiosq-b\">Elsewhere, the lineup is the same as previously announced. The American pairing of climbing lieutenant <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/riders\/sepp-kuss\/\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/riders\/sepp-kuss\/\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/riders\/sepp-kuss\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sepp Kuss<\/a> and all-rounder <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/riders\/matteo-jorgenson\/\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/riders\/matteo-jorgenson\/\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/riders\/matteo-jorgenson\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Matteo Jorgenson<\/a> lead the selection. The pair have nine Tour appearances between them, with Jorgenson&#8217;s eighth place in 2024 their best GC result.<\/p>\n<p aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"kiosq-b\">French time trial champion <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/riders\/bruno-armirail\/\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/riders\/bruno-armirail\/\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/riders\/bruno-armirail\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Bruno Armirail<\/a> is the sole French representative in the squad. The Italian is a strong time triallist and was the team&#8217;s top finisher at last year&#8217;s stage 5 time trial in Caen.<\/p>\n<p aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"kiosq-b\">Norwegian <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/riders\/per-strand-hagenes\/\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/riders\/per-strand-hagenes\/\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/riders\/per-strand-hagenes\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Per Strand Hagenes<\/a> makes his Grand Tour debut at the Tour. The 22-year-old replaces Christophe Laporte in the selection after the Frenchman was ruled out of this summer&#8217;s racing with a torn thigh muscle in May.<\/p>\n<p aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"kiosq-b\">Along with Armirail, Affini and Hagenes, <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/riders\/victor-campenaerts\/page\/6\/\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/riders\/victor-campenaerts\/page\/6\/\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/riders\/victor-campenaerts\/page\/6\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Victor Campenaerts<\/a> will form Visma&#8217;s rouleur core. The quartet will do their part to control the peloton, chase down breakaways, guard Vingegaard, and power the opening stage team time trial effort. The Belgian is riding his fourth Tour de France and was part of the team&#8217;s victorious Giro squad alongside Kuss and Piganzoli.<\/p>\n<p aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"kiosq-b\">Vingegaard is aiming to become the ninth rider to complete the men&#8217;s Giro-Tour double, following in the wheeltracks of Eddy Merckx, Fausto Coppi, Miguel Indurain, and his great rival, <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/riders\/tadej-pogacar\/\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/riders\/tadej-pogacar\/\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/riders\/tadej-pogacar\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tadej Poga\u010dar<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"kiosq-b\">&#8220;It gave me some confidence for the Tour de France to come out of the Giro in a good way \u2013 winning five stages for me, one with Sepp, and the GC as well. So, it was definitely a good race for us, giving us some confidence and belief that we can win the Tour,&#8221; Vingegaard said during the livestream.<\/p>\n<p aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"kiosq-b\">&#8220;I have a lot of belief in myself, and that also gives the other guys belief. They really believe in the plan we have and also believe that it&#8217;s possible to win the Tour de France again. It&#8217;s now three years ago that I won it the last time. Ever since, it&#8217;s been a big goal for me. Of course, there&#8217;s been a lot of setbacks, but that&#8217;s something I feel like that&#8217;s behind me now.<\/p>\n<p aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"kiosq-b\">&#8220;I grew back to being more myself again. It took me some time, but now I finally feel like I&#8217;m there, as the same person I was before all these setbacks. I feel like I&#8217;m an even stronger version than I was back then.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"kiosq-b\">Vingegaard once again go head-to-head with Poga\u010dar this July as he tries to win the Tour for a third time.
