Irish lightweight Denis Frimpong was brutally knocked out high up a stoppage-ridden Oktagon 90 card in Berlin on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Frimpong<\/a>, who has made a name for himself in the European promotion through his own emphatic knockouts<\/a>, took the full force of a rapid one-two from German opponent Niko Samsonidse.<\/p>\n

Samsonidse turned Frimpong’s head with his initial right hand, allowing his left to land like thunder when he followed through.<\/p>\n

Frimpong, now 8-4, was out cold immediately following the picture-perfect KO and face-planted straight into the canvas.<\/p>\n

The 31-year-old Manchester Top Team representative struggled to stand on his stool minutes after the KO as Oktagon’s medical team offered support.<\/p>\n

However, he recovered in time to embrace his 13-4 opponent in a sign of sportsmanship.<\/p>\n

It marked one of many nasty KOs on the night at Berlin’s Uber Arena, as eight of the 11 fights on the card finished before the final bell.<\/p>\n

What else happened at Oktagon 90?<\/p>\n

In the main event, Ireland’s Will Fleury<\/a> cemented his status as one of the promotion’s biggest stars by scoring his sixth consecutive victory under the Oktagon banner.<\/p>\n

Fleury, also the Oktagon light heavyweight champion<\/a>, knocked out German fighter Kasim Aras with relative ease after two rounds to defend his heavyweight title.<\/p>\n

The 37-year-old was too quick for the challenger and stunned him with an array of blows before dropping him with a monstrous left hand to finish the fight.<\/p>\n

He then faced off with Daniel Skvor, who has already been booked to challenge Fleury for the light heavyweight title in a rematch at Oktagon 92 in Prague.<\/p>\n

Fleury submitted Skvor on his Oktagon debut in April 2024 and has since torn through both the promotion’s light heavyweight and heavyweight divisions to claim gold.<\/p>\n

In his last outing ahead of this weekend, the Irishman made a statement by stopping former UFC-ranked heavyweight Martin Buday<\/a> in less than two minutes.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere at Oktagon 90, Mateusz Legierski defended his lightweight title against Gokhan Aksu in the chief support act.<\/p>\n

And undefeated female star Alina Dalaslan extended her perfect professional record to 6-0 after leaving an almighty cut on the forehead of Brazilian opponent Djulia Ariana.<\/p>\n

Oktagon also announced on the night the headliner for its September return to Deutsche Bank Park, the home of Bundesliga<\/a> side Eintracht Frankfurt<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Around 60,000 spectators are expected to attend as Frankfurt hero Max Coga battles Oktagon veteran Christian Jungwirth at welterweight on September 26.<\/p>\n
